Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear position in the introduction, agreeing that apartment blocks can help address housing shortages, and you give two relevant reasons: residents can live nearer to work or study, and more housing may help companies recruit workers. The Islamabad example also relates to the issue. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the second example about New York is unfinished, and neither main point is developed with enough explanation or evidence. The essay also does not consider any limitation of relying on tall blocks, which would help clarify the extent of your agreement. The response is 46 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop your ideas. Extend each reason with a complete, specific example and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction gives your position, followed by separate paragraphs presenting two reasons. This makes the main line of argument reasonably easy to identify. You also use basic links such as “For example” and “It can also,” which help connect supporting points. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first moves from commuting costs to family time and then to Islamabad without fully explaining the links. The second paragraph ends abruptly after “can attract,” leaving the example incomplete and disrupting the overall flow. Some connections, such as “which at last,” are also awkward. Develop one point at a time, use clear references, and finish the final example and conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “shortage,” “apartment blocks,” “employment opportunities,” and “transportation cost,” so the reader can understand the subject and your intended reasons. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural, for example “belived,” “larges,” “tarvel,” and “attrach.” Some phrases are also imprecise or repetitive, such as “shortage of less homes” and “enough homes.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vary the language used to discuss housing and recruitment. Proofreading spelling carefully and learning phrases such as “housing shortage” and “attract skilled workers” would make your ideas easier to follow and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “which can cause financial issues.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “It can provides” and “can causes” use incorrect verb forms, while “There are number of employment opportunities” is missing an article. The opening sentence also has an unclear grammatical structure, and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and article use, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated structure.
