Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that apartment blocks can help address housing shortages, and you give two relevant reasons—bringing homes closer to work and education, and attracting workers to cities. The Islamabad example supports the first point, while New York is used to illustrate the second. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain why tall apartment blocks are the best solution compared with alternatives, and the employment argument is not clearly linked to building high-rise housing. Some claims, such as companies attracting workers because there are enough homes, need a clearer explanation or specific support. Develop each reason with a more direct connection to tall buildings and acknowledge a limitation or alternative to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Each body paragraph focuses on a main idea, and examples are introduced with “For example,” which helps readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first moves from commuting costs to family time and then to Islamabad without fully connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “It can also” and repeated uses of “too” are basic and sometimes make relationships between ideas vague. The sentence beginning “Which have many negative effects” is also detached from the preceding sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to its claim, and vary cohesive devices to make the argument flow more logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “shortage,” “employment opportunities,” “transportation cost,” and “development of country,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors are noticeable. Phrases such as “shortage of less homes,” “provide enough space,” and “open doors of opportunities” are either unclear or unnatural in this context. Misspellings such as “belived,” “incraese,” and “attrach” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check spelling carefully. More natural phrases such as “housing shortage,” “increase employment opportunities,” and “attract workers” would help express your ideas more clearly and appropriately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “by having,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation, and some make the reader pause. For example, “It can provides job” has incorrect verb agreement, while “It can also help them to spend enough time” is followed by a long sentence with several ideas joined loosely. “Which have many negative effects” is a sentence fragment, and “There are number of employment opportunities” is missing an article. Practise building accurate complex sentences and separating complete ideas with full stops. Check subject–verb agreement and article use during proofreading.
