Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, every one rush to the big cities for jobs so there are lot of housing problems. Some people say that they should make tall building to solve housing problems. I agree with that statement to some extent because it can solev that problems and give people to batter lyfestyle.

To begin with, why and how tall building can solve tha housing problems? Firstly, it can solve space problem if government build tall buildings, it will take less space then a single house more floors are build and many people can live their. For example, cities like mumbai there are no space left to build a single house and many people go their to find a good job so they can live into tall buliding and upgrade their life. Moreover, flats are far more cheaper then a house so people can afford it, there are so many people who are un able to build a house because if a person want to build a house they firstly need to buy a land thats make the house costly if they want a home they can buy a flat in tall building which is pocket friendly. Furthermore there are so many people who went a house which are close to the work they do not want to travel far for work.

However, there are some people who do not want to live in tall building because they think that this can effect their privacy, in that tall buliding may houses are close to each other so they can listen the voices of each other house that feels uncomfortable for many people. Beside this, not only people can face space problems but also safety can ditermine in some cases tall building do not have enough face that are feels safocated into it, and by this also consern about safty live do not have proper

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear, though qualified, response by saying you agree “to some extent,” and you support the case for apartment blocks with relevant points about limited land, affordability and proximity to work. The Mumbai example helps illustrate pressure on urban space. You also acknowledge concerns about privacy and safety, so both sides of the issue are considered. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the benefits receive several reasons, while the opposing points are brief, and the final safety point is unfinished (“do not have proper…”). The response also does not fully explain why tall blocks are the best way compared with other housing approaches. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or example, and complete the conclusion of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting tall buildings, and a paragraph presenting drawbacks. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “However” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within sentences and between ideas is often difficult to follow. For example, “if government build tall buildings, it will take less space then a single house more floors are build” joins several points without clear sentence boundaries. The final paragraph also ends abruptly, leaving the safety argument incomplete. Some linking phrases are used mechanically, and references such as “this” in “this can effect their privacy” are not always precise. Use shorter, clearly punctuated sentences and organise each paragraph around one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing problems,” “tall buildings,” “privacy,” “safety,” and “afford.” These choices make the general subject clear. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “batter lyfestyle,” “sol ev,” “safocated,” and “consern.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “upgrade their life,” “flats are far more cheaper,” and “face space problems.” Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban development, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “high-rise apartments,” “housing shortage,” and “commute” would help you express your ideas more clearly and avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if a person want to build a house…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” This shows an effort to connect reasons and qualifications. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “every one rush,” “if government build,” and “many people can live their,” where the subject–verb form or grammatical construction is faulty. The long sentence beginning “Firstly, it can solve space problem” contains several clauses that need clearer punctuation or separation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences one clause at a time, checking that each sentence has a complete and clear structure.
