Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many People think that building tall apartments blocks is the best way to provide adequate homes in large city. I totally agree with this as large city generally have high density polulation and the area in limited .

Density of population in large city is comparatively higher that small city as people migrate to large city for better oportunity. As most of the office are build in large city and employee's preffer to live near office for convinence. It is not possible to build there own home and waste the potential of the limited land. Building tall apartment block is the only effective way to meet the need of housing in large city. For example, Pune is one of the large city with huge population but they still manage to provide enough housing as they have many tall apartments which accomodate thousands of people in a limited area.

Tall apartment help to utilize the urban land effectively and one stop solution to all the needs of people such as GYM, swmming pool and indoor game etc.Now people do not need to travel outside there home to access facilities. As people are getting all the fecilities in there society so there will be less demand of commercial gym, pool etc. Which can be utilize for more housing for other people. For instance Pune have less comercial gym as most of the people have in there own apartment and in this way pune have saved commercial area with is being utilized for more apartments.

Overall I feel building tall apartment blocks is the best way to meet the demand of housing and this should be done in a planned manner to utilise it to its full potential.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you totally agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including high population density, limited land, and the convenience of shared facilities, and the Pune example helps illustrate your argument. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that apartment facilities reduce demand for commercial gyms and free land for housing needs a clearer link to how this would provide enough homes. The response also focuses almost entirely on advantages and does not consider any limitation or explain why alternatives are less effective. Develop each main reason with more precise explanation and support to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally follow a sensible order, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, connections between some claims are abrupt. In the second body paragraph, the move from shared facilities to reduced demand for commercial facilities and then to more housing is not fully explained. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “Overall” are useful, but some transitions feel mechanical, and references such as “this” in “in this way” could be more precise. Make the relationship between each reason and its consequence explicit, and use clearer topic sentences to guide the reader through each paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to urban housing, including “high density,” “limited land,” “potential,” and “utilize,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “large city,” “tall apartment,” and “provide.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “polulation,” “oportunity,” “convinence,” “accomodate,” and “fecilities,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the writing. Some combinations are unnatural, for example “one stop solution to all the needs of people.” Build a wider set of accurate collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the argument without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “as people migrate to large city” and a longer sentence beginning “As people are getting all the fecilities…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect fluency. Examples include “large city generally have,” “most of the office are build,” and “Tall apartment help.” The sentence beginning “Which can be utilize” is a fragment, while “It is not possible to build there own home and waste…” has an unclear grammatical relationship between its parts. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence completeness, and divide long sentences where needed. Greater control of these patterns will make your ideas easier to follow.
