Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, population in cities have been dramatically increaing. Mostly people want to make cities their permanent residence especially in large cities. It is often argue that government should build enormous aparments, instead of small building
Mostly people want to settle in cities because they will have many opportunities their. For instance, they can find jobs. Moreover, in cities their children can get higher education, as compare to rural areas. So population in have been rapidly increasing. People belive that they should provided by large buildings. On the other hand, mostly individual thinks that it can be harmful to bulid large blocks. For instance, during earthquake, there are high chances of falling down.
I do completely agree with this statement because in this way government can provide habitant to many people. Moreover, for buildings or new appartments government will need more space. So moslty they use agricultural land that cause sancity of food and cause many environmental problems, such as, deforestation and air pollution. By building large blocks, they can save agricultural land for food.
Additionaly, we can save these building in earthquake as well. For instance , in japan, special type of material have been used in construction of buildings. We can also use this material.
In a nutshell, i would like to say that large building blocks will be best for cities areas. By adopting this, we can decrease deforestation and government can provide residence to more than 100 people in a building, instead of making small aparnments seprately.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including accommodating more residents and protecting agricultural land, and you add examples about job and education opportunities and earthquake-resistant construction in Japan. This addresses the task, but some points are more fully explained than others. For example, the link between building blocks and reducing deforestation or air pollution is asserted rather than explained, and the earthquake point is not clearly connected to why tall blocks are the best solution. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or specific example, and briefly acknowledge why alternatives such as smaller buildings may be less effective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, discussion of urban growth and a concern about earthquakes, reasons for agreement, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In a nutshell” guide the reader. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or linked loosely. The claim that people move to cities for jobs and education is followed by a repeated statement about population growth, while the earthquake concern is not fully resolved before the argument shifts to land use. Use each paragraph to develop one central point, make references such as “this way” more specific, and connect examples directly to the claim they support.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “permanent residence,” “agricultural land,” “deforestation,” and “air pollution,” which helps communicate the main argument. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural, such as “aparments,” “sancity,” and “habitant.” Some combinations are also awkward, including “provide habitant to many people” and “save these building in earthquake.” Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban development, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “accommodate residents” and “earthquake-resistant construction” would express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using structures such as “because” and “instead of,” and most of your meaning can be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “population in cities have been” should use a singular verb, while “It is often argue” needs a passive form (“argued”). In “they should provided by large buildings,” the verb pattern is incorrect and the intended meaning is unclear. There are also incomplete or awkwardly joined clauses, such as “So population in have been rapidly increasing.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and vary sentence patterns while keeping them accurate.
