Student answer (Band 5.5)
Keeping in view the increasing population in large cities it is often argued that tall apartment blocks should be built in large cities to provide enough homes to people. I firmly believe that tall apartment blocks can play a vital role in accommodating large number of citizens.
Tall buildings are space efficient. In a tall building greater number of people can be adjusted without a large land dedicated to local population. This can help governments to utilize that remained space to make hospitals, parks and other things that can facilitate individuals. Moreover, if tall blocks are designed properly they give a very good look to the city as cities have large number of buildings. Furthermore, a heighhted buidling can accumulate all facilities in itself so that residents can get all necessities in the same area where they live.
On the other hand, too many tall building can block air passage in the city. As a result of this there can be suffocation. In addition to this, people living there may suffer form psychological problems just because of living in a close space all their lives. Moreover, people living in top floors may suffer from climate. For example, in summers residents in top floors will go through high temperatures as compare to people living below them.
In the end, the tall blocks play a crucial role in accomodating large members of society, giving them all they need in a single space but at the same time it can harmful to health of people. In my view there should a certain number of tall buildings in large cities so that this things does not react back.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support building tall apartment blocks, while recognising that they can have drawbacks. You address both sides with relevant points, including efficient land use, space for public facilities, restricted airflow and possible effects on residents. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that tall buildings can provide “all facilities” is broad, and the point about psychological problems needs a clearer explanation or an example. The discussion of top-floor heat is relevant, but it does not fully establish how this affects whether high-rise construction is the best way to provide enough homes. Develop these points and explain why your proposed limit on tall buildings is preferable to other approaches.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting tall buildings, a paragraph outlining disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition to this” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the repeated use of these transitions makes the connections somewhat mechanical, and some references are unclear. In “this things does not react back,” the reader has to infer what “this” refers to and what “react back” means. The conclusion also introduces a limit on the number of tall buildings without clearly linking it to the earlier points. Use more precise referencing and make the relationship between each reason and your final position explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “space efficient,” “accommodating,” “air passage,” and “psychological problems,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: people are “adjusted” rather than housed, land is “dedicated to local population,” and a building “accumulate[s]” facilities. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “heighhted,” “buidling,” “form,” and “accomodating.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Build a more reliable range of collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling and word forms. Prefer clear, accurate phrasing over ambitious expressions that do not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional clauses (“if tall blocks are designed properly”) and cause-and-effect structures (“As a result of this…”). The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include missing articles or determiners in “greater number of people” and “there should a certain number,” agreement errors in “too many tall building,” and faulty sentence construction in “at the same time it can harmful.” Comparisons also need more accurate forms, as in “as compare to people living below them.” These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce control. Practise articles, subject–verb agreement, modal constructions, and comparative patterns, then check each sentence for a complete verb.
