Student answer (Band 5.5)

The rapid growth of the city population may cause different problems for the accomodation of people move from rural-side to the city-side for the betterment of the future. From my prespective it is a best way to build long buildings for the families to live in. It consume less space and facilitate more families with convinient living styles.

One of the main advantage to manufacture large buildings in a vertical position is that the land is more expensive in urban side so thats why everyone cannot afford this and in less budget more families can enjoy the relaible space to live in. It is difficult to entertain everyone with single buildings or manu facturing every unit separately.

building upward can concume less space and greenery of the cit can be saved althogh if every family wants a separate house then more place can be consumed and the beauty of the city will be harmed.

however, high-rise buildings are not a perfect solution. they can be highly costed to maintain and dosn't have much vantilation and gardens. some families want the privacy as well as the gardens in home sp government can facilitate them in a different way.

in conclusion, i largely agree that tall apartment blocks are one of the most effective way to provide sufficient space in a large cities. nevertheless, they should be a part of aconomically in a socities and gives a better opportunities to live in. Apartments have fully facilities to live in and there is no problem to face any kind of issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that you largely agree, and you offer relevant reasons: apartment blocks use less land, can accommodate more families, and may help preserve urban greenery. You also acknowledge drawbacks such as maintenance costs, limited ventilation and gardens, which shows some consideration of the issue. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The point about land prices, for instance, needs a clearer link to why tall blocks are the best way to provide homes. The final claim that apartments have “no problem to face any kind of issue” also conflicts with the drawbacks you have just mentioned. Develop each main point and qualify your position more consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to supporting points, a counterargument and a conclusion. Basic linking words such as “One of the main advantage,” “however” and “in conclusion” help signal these stages. However, progression between ideas is not always clear: the discussion of land costs, separate houses and greenery is compressed into loosely connected statements, and the counterargument is followed by an unclear suggestion about how government should help. Some connections are mechanical or inaccurate, and the conclusion introduces claims about facilities and problems that have not been established. Use one focused paragraph for each main reason, explain how each point supports your position, and make references between sentences clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to housing and urban development, including “high-rise buildings,” “vertical position,” “privacy,” “maintenance” and “greenery.” This gives the response some topic-specific language, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “accomodation,” “convinient living styles,” “relaible space,” “highly costed” and “aconomically in a socities.” Some phrases, such as “manufacture large buildings,” are also unnatural for this context. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases—for example, “construct apartment blocks” and “affordable housing”—and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help express your ideas without relying on vague wording such as “different way.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “if every family wants a separate house,” and you use contrast with “however” and “nevertheless.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce frequent grammatical errors that can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “It consume less space,” “One of the main advantage,” “they…doesn't have,” and “in a large cities,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement, number and articles. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in the lower-case starts “building upward” and “however.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
