Student answer (Band 6.0)

Skyscrappers provide enough area to build more homes in large cities as they spread vertically instead of horizontal.I highly agree with the given statement.

On the first hand, in most of the large cities, housing schemes are getting much expensive that it becomes very difficult for most of the population can afford their own house. Instead of buying a land and build a home for themseleves, they starts to live in tall building apartments with much less cost value. For instance, many people move to big cities in search of employment and better academic opportunities. Such people rent studios in tal building blocks to avoid high rents.

Moreover, another main reason to provide vertical building blocks is, it saves so much land not for further construction but also for the landscape. Big cities often knows as a concrete jungle with all grey infrastructure everywhere. constructing tall apartments can create enough spaces for parks and green pockets. For example, most of the countries are focusing more on green landscape rather than only construction, as it also makes environment more positive and create a great impact on human wellbeing.

On the other hand, living in tall buildings can sometimes become hassle. Such building's owners do not maintain the services which can lead to difficulty for the residents and sometimes people also have to deal with sewrage issues.

Overall, in my opinion, every structure demands maintainance after some years ,however. tall building blocks definitely provides enough land for other puposes which can benefit both, atmosphere of the community as well as human phsycology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening—“I highly agree”—and the response gives relevant reasons: apartments can be more affordable for people moving to cities, and building upwards can preserve land for parks and green spaces. You also acknowledge a drawback, namely poor maintenance and sewage problems, before reaffirming your view. This addresses the question and provides examples, including people renting studios for work or study. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the affordability argument shifts between buying homes and renting, and the maintenance counterargument is brief and not weighed against the benefits. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how tall blocks increase housing supply and develop the counterpoint before showing why it does not change your overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting vertical construction, a paragraph presenting a disadvantage, and a concluding opinion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the argument. The overall progression is understandable, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. “On the first hand” is not the usual contrastive expression, and the relationship between expensive housing and renting apartments could be made more explicit. The final paragraph also introduces maintenance again before returning to the main benefit, which makes the conclusion less focused. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the claim it supports; this would make the progression more consistently smooth.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “vertically,” “housing schemes,” “green pockets,” “infrastructure,” and “human wellbeing,” showing an attempt to discuss urban development beyond basic terms. However, the range and control are uneven, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “cost value,” “positive” for the environment, and “provide vertical building blocks.” Spelling errors—including “Skyscrappers,” “sewrage,” and “maintainance”—also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from following the main argument, but they make parts of it less precise. Build a more reliable set of collocations for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and word forms carefully during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “services which can lead to difficulty” and a comparison in “instead of buying a land and build a home.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “it becomes very difficult for most of the population can afford” has an incorrect clause structure, while “they starts to live” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, as in “a land” and the missing space after “horizontal.” Practise accurate clause patterns and agreement, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
