Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—“I partially agree”—and introduce two relevant considerations: efficient land use and possible danger during natural disasters. However, the response addresses the question only partially. The advantages are asserted rather than explained: for example, the link between apartment blocks and “better facilities” or employment opportunities is unclear, and the disadvantage is limited to a brief reference to floods and heavy rainfall. The conclusion promised in the introduction is also absent, so your extent of agreement is not fully clarified. The response is 153 words, below the required 250, which leaves too little space to develop and support your reasons. Explain how high-rise housing increases capacity, assess its limitations, and give a relevant example before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: an introduction is followed by a paragraph on advantages and one beginning to discuss disadvantages. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Consequently,” and “However” help signal relationships between points. However, the overall progression is incomplete: the final paragraph stops after one undeveloped example, and there is no conclusion despite the introduction promising one. Some connections are also unclear, such as how efficient land use leads to “a better place to live with better facilities.” Develop each paragraph around one clear point, explain the link between supporting details, and use a concluding paragraph to restate your position. This would make the argument easier to follow from beginning to end.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “natural disasters,” “employment opportunities,” and “efficient,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word combinations or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For example, “provide enough homes to population” and “construction of large building apartments” do not express the intended idea naturally, while “put threat to human lives” is an awkward collocation. Repetition of “building” and “better” also limits precision. Learn and use common housing-related phrases, such as “meet housing demand,” “high-rise apartment blocks,” and “put residents at risk,” and choose more precise wording when explaining benefits and drawbacks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including “I partially agree with this statement because…” and “which will help them…,” and the reader can usually identify your main points. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “Building large apartments offer,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “it provide a affordable living place,” which has errors in both agreement and article use. The final sentence fragment, “during the natural disasters such as flood and heavy rainfall create a danger,” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
