Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people think that build the tall building is not a good thing. While, some thinks that the best method to provide enough homes in big cities is to construct tall apartments block. Overall, I'm totally agree with those who think that high buildings are perfect way. I assume that it gives lot of convenience such as saves space, protect green space and better facilities

To begin with, if we build a tall apartments instead of small houses whom cover lot of space, it will be more beneficial for overcrowded cities where land is limited. In china, we can see that their population is at first place however they still manage it due to high buildings.

Moreover, the second thing we can overcome with that is to protect green spaces. If we upgrade tall bulidings then we will not need to spread cities into forests and farmland, which make environment better for individuals. We can witnessed that there are numerous diseases in cities where is no greenry.

Furthermore, the other point of view is better facilities. In a big aparments Government can provide combine facilities to residents such as electricity and gas. In addition, there will be combine gym, parks and security system, which make life more convenience for residents . On the other hand, this will give them strong bond to their neighbours which is very good for their mental health

To sum up, small houses are good but construct the tall apartments is a wise way. It provides many facilities to their residents as compared to small homes for example good environment, firm bond with their neighbours and many others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and the response gives relevant reasons, including efficient land use, protecting green spaces, and shared facilities. These points address the question, and the China example helps illustrate the pressure on urban land. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that high-rise development prevents disease is not clearly linked to green space, and the benefits of shared facilities could be explained with a specific example of how they improve housing provision. The conclusion restates your view but introduces “good environment” and neighbourly bonds without developing them. More precise explanation and support for each main point would make the argument more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, three body paragraphs signalled by “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore,” and a concluding paragraph. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through your argument. Some links, however, feel mechanical or unclear. The opening “While” construction does not connect smoothly to the following sentence, and “the second thing we can overcome with that” makes the relationship between the point and the previous paragraph difficult to follow. In the final body paragraph, the shift from facilities to stronger neighbourly bonds would benefit from a clearer explanation. Use linking expressions to show precise relationships, and make sure each paragraph develops one central idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “overcrowded cities,” “limited” land, “green spaces,” “farmland,” and “security system.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss urban planning beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “apartments block,” “combine facilities,” “greenry,” and “more convenience” are examples. Repetition of “tall,” “good,” and “facilities” also limits precision. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling and word forms during revision. More precise terms for housing density and shared amenities would strengthen the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex structures, including conditional sentences such as “if we build … it will be more beneficial” and a relative clause beginning “which.” This shows some range, and the main argument is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “some thinks” should use a plural verb, “I'm totally agree” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “which make environment better” does not agree with its subject. The opening also contains an incomplete or awkward contrast structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
