Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a relevant position—“I think I agree”—and connect tall buildings with providing homes and preserving green areas. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives one brief line of reasoning, with no developed explanation or relevant example to support the claim that apartment blocks are the best way to meet housing needs. The point about pollution is mentioned but not clearly linked to how high-rise housing would control it. The response also contains 69 words, well below the required 250, so there is not enough material to address the question fully. To strengthen your response, explain the benefits and possible limitations of building upwards, then support your view with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic progression: you give your opinion, mention the need for homes, and then refer to pollution and green areas. The linking word “because” signals a reason, so the reader can follow the general direction of your argument. However, the ideas are compressed into one long sentence, and the relationship between housing, pollution, and the loss of green space is not always clear. The phrase “as you know” does not add a clear connection, and there is no paragraphing to separate the position from its supporting points. Use separate sentences and paragraphs, with clear links such as “One reason is…” and “For example…”, to make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “tall buildings,” “apartments,” “green areas,” and “pollution,” which helps communicate your main idea. However, the range is narrow and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “buldings,” “appartments,” “creat,” and “plant earth.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “the plant earth become stones and buldings” does not clearly describe the environmental concern. Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and more natural collocations, such as “high-rise apartment blocks,” “preserve green space,” and “urban pollution.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise phrases would make your meaning more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your response communicates a basic opinion and attempts to connect ideas using “because,” but sentence structures are mostly simple or joined into one extended sentence. Several grammatical errors affect clarity, for example, “every buldings should contains” has incorrect agreement, and “we provids home” uses an incorrect verb form and number. The sentence beginning “I think I agree for this idea” also has an awkward grammatical pattern, while punctuation is limited and does not clearly separate the ideas. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and plural forms, and build a mix of shorter sentences and controlled complex sentences. For example: “I agree that cities should build high-rise apartments because this can leave more land for parks.”
