Student answer (Band 5.0)
Tall buildings are believed to the solution to overpopulation in bigger cities. In recent there has been a tremedous increase in deamand of accomodation in capital cities and surrounding areas. l have mixed feelings about this suggestion. This essay will be based on my different opinions.
Skycrapers has been used in developed countries to solve accomodation issue. This is due to the fact that it does require much space. Thousands of occupants can be accomodated in one storey building. However it has its disadvantages especially in developing contries where resources are limited. These projects costs millions of dollars which an average landlord can not afford.
The high bulidings since they occupy minimum land, most the environment can be used for agriculture and industry. Therefore, land is preseved for other uses which might benefit the community. The skycrapers normally have shops at the ground floor and the basement is for parking. As a result of there is no need to build parkade for vehicles.
The tall buildings are normally expensive which will result in social discrapancies in the society. The rich would always be at the top. There will be no proper division of land.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You present a mixed view and include relevant points about land use, construction costs, and possible social inequality. For example, you explain that tall buildings can accommodate many people while using less land, and note that such projects may be unaffordable in developing countries. However, the position is not fully clear: the opening says you have “mixed feelings,” but the conclusion is incomplete (“Tall building are naecessary to those countries which have shortage…”), so your final judgement cannot be established. Several ideas are asserted rather than explained, such as the claim that “the rich would always be at the top.” The response also falls 46 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop and support your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the topic, and separate paragraphs discuss advantages and disadvantages. Basic linking expressions such as “However,” “Therefore,” and “As a result” help show relationships between points. Nevertheless, the overall progression is not clear because the essay moves from costs to land use and then to inequality without consistently connecting these points to your stated mixed position. Some links are inaccurate or awkward, as in “As a result of there is no need,” and the final sentence is unfinished, leaving the argument without a proper conclusion. To improve, give each paragraph one clear purpose, use linking phrases accurately, and finish by summarising your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “overpopulation,” “accommodation,” “resources,” “agriculture,” and “social discrepancies,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “tremedous,” “deamand,” “Skycrapers,” and “naecessary.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “solve accommodation issue” and “one storey building” when referring to a high-rise. Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “housing shortage,” “high-rise apartments,” and “construction costs” would make your points clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “This is due to the fact that it does require much space” and “The tall buildings are normally expensive which will result in social discrapancies in the society.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “Tall buildings are believed to the solution,” which is missing a necessary verb pattern, and “Skycrapers has been used,” where the subject and verb do not agree. Other problems include “These projects costs” and the incomplete final sentence. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence construction, then check each sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
