Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that the best way to accomodate people in big cities is to build high rise buildings. I somehow agree with this view because apartments are usually safer and more people can adjust in apartments. However, it can create privacy concerns among people and people may face problem in installing solar system on terrace.

High rise buildings are benefical for citizens because most of the apartmental blocks build in boundary wall projects and have strict security checks. Unauthorized persons usually cannot enter inside the apartments so people feel safe and their children can play outside without any fear of being kidnapped. Moreover, a large number of people can find homes particularly those who live on rent. People who cannot afford a house can easily live in flats. For example, most of the private and governmnet sectors are focusing on developing high rise buildings for public benefit.

In contrast, living in closed apartments can also create disputes among people. The main reason is that doors of the apartments are very closed to each other . Most of the time people eavesdrop and see whats happening to the next door that can disturb privacy of a family. Likewise, people who live in last floorof the apartment, only they have access to terrace. If the flat is rented so they pay extra amount for terrace for solar installation. People who live in first and second floors often argue over terrace for solar installation because they are not allowed to use it. As a result, residents can face issues. For instance, most of the tall buildings cause serious issues among people that can lead to life threathning sometime.

In conclusion, apartments build for public interest to provide homes to a large number of people. I agree with this view because they are safer interms of family and children security. However, I also disagree because people live close to eachother often have disputes over privacy and terrace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a recognisable, balanced position: you support high-rise housing for safety and capacity, while acknowledging privacy and shared-terrace concerns. These points are relevant to the question, and the security example gives some support. However, the response only partly develops the central claim about whether this is the best way to provide enough homes. The point that flats help people who cannot afford houses is asserted rather than explained, and the example about government and private sectors is general. The terrace discussion is detailed but its connection to the overall housing-supply question is less clear. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise construction compares with alternatives and develop fewer, more directly relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph supporting high-rise buildings, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “As a result” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some links are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the first body paragraph moves from security to affordability and then to a broad statement about development without showing how these points connect. In the second, the shift from privacy to terrace access is abrupt. References such as “they” in the conclusion could also be clearer. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point and connect examples explicitly to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “high rise buildings,” “security checks,” “privacy,” and “solar installation.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “Unauthorized persons” and “eavesdrop.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make the writing less precise: “accomodate,” “apartmental blocks,” “closed apartments,” and “life threathning” are examples. Some phrases are also repetitive, particularly “people” and “apartments.” Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban development, and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish concerns about access, privacy, affordability, and shared facilities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If the flat is rented so they pay extra amount” and a relative clause in “those who live on rent.” This shows some range, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical patterns recur. For example, “people who live in last floor… only they have access” has an awkward clause structure, while “people who live close to eachother often have disputes” needs clearer sentence control. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as the spacing before the full stop in “each other .” Work on forming conditional sentences and relative clauses accurately, and proofread for sentence boundaries and punctuation.
