Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people think that, In large cites the easy way to provides enough homes is to build tall apartment blocks, I am also agree with it. Firstly, In large cites the amount of population in these cites are also high. They have no enough homes for their life style. The most suitable way for the population living in these cities is to build tall apartment blocks, they take up less space and offer enough homes. For example, in developed countries like USA they mostly have tall apartments in their large cites. For this reason, they do not pose any problem to the growing population. That is why i am agree with this statement. Moreover, tall apartment blocks is a trend in developed countries but in the passage of time there is also a become a trend in indeveloped countries. also tall buildings are more affordable and provide better facilities. When many families live in one building, the cost of construction and services becomes lower. For instance, in big cities of Pakistan like Lahore and Karachi, apartment blocks offer shared facilities such as parking, security and lifts, which makes life easier and cheaper for middle class people.
To conclude, I strongly agree that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. This is because its saves land and it is affordable for people. Therefore, governments should encourage the construction of high rise buildings in big cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. You give relevant reasons, including saving space, reducing construction and service costs, and offering shared facilities, with examples from the USA and Pakistani cities. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that tall apartments mean developed countries “do not pose any problem to the growing population” is too broad and does not show how housing needs are met. The point about the trend spreading to less developed countries is also not developed. The response is 9 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each reason with clearer explanation or a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from population pressure and land use to affordability and shared facilities, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Moreover, tall apartment blocks is a trend…” shifts from affordability to popularity without explaining the link, while “For this reason” and “That is why” repeat the same conclusion in the first body paragraph. Some sentences also join separate claims with commas, making the relationships between ideas less clear. Use fewer repeated signposts and build smoother links by explaining how each example supports its reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “population,” “construction,” “shared facilities,” “security” and “high rise buildings.” The examples also show an attempt to use language appropriate to housing and urban development. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and word-form errors make the writing less natural: “large cites,” “indeveloped countries,” “no enough homes,” and “a become a trend.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “they do not pose any problem to the growing population.” Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling and word forms. More precise terms such as “housing demand” and “urban land” would help express the argument clearly without relying on repeated general words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “This is because…” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “When many families live in one building…”. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the amount of population … are” has subject–verb disagreement, “tall apartment blocks is” uses the wrong verb form, and “its saves land” has an incorrect pronoun and verb. The opening also contains comma splices, joining complete ideas with commas. These errors show that control of agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries needs attention. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use full stops or conjunctions to connect complete clauses.
