Student answer (Band 5.0)

To provide enough shelters for those who dont have in large cities, i believe its a good idea to build tall apartment blocks. because as the city life is very conjusted and everywhere we can only see building and ongoing constructions, which in results not only huge investment but also huge loss of land. Huge loss of land is directly proportion to loss of the natural habitat which means we are the destroyer of natrural habitat, where the birds and other animals are living, so its not fair, or its cruel to disturb the natural habitat and injustice with the animals and birds. So to accomodate a large bunch of people in a big city it would be more efficient to build tall aparments block, rather we build small small houses for each family or individuals. Example is Islamabad the capital of Pakistan, its the first planned city in the hitory of Pakistan, where the governoment is focusing in the expansion of city to accomodate people, but at what cost? by the cost of disturbing natural habitat, which results in the cutting of trees and demolations of old socities.

People reacted so badly and strongly critique them, now governoment is focusing on biulding tall apartment blocks somehow. It will not only secure our natural habitat but also help us in avoid of the land losses. It is something very concerning to ignore this type of very basic management issue from the administrations side, which need to be taken on the floor of assembly by the people representative.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give a relevant reason: they can house more people while using less land, helping to protect wildlife and trees. The Islamabad example also gives the argument a local context. However, the response addresses the question only partially because it focuses heavily on environmental costs and does not fully explain why tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes compared with other possible approaches. The example is asserted rather than supported with specific details, and the final point about raising the issue in parliament is not clearly connected to the housing argument. Develop two or three reasons directly answering the prompt and explain each with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the response moves from your position to the land and habitat argument, then gives Islamabad as an example and ends with a recommendation. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The opening sentence is followed by a fragment beginning “because,” and several ideas are joined into long chains, making the relationship between them difficult to follow. Connectors such as “so,” “which means,” and “but” are repeated or used where the logical link is unclear. The paragraphing also does not clearly separate the main argument, example, and conclusion. Use distinct paragraphs for these stages, and make each paragraph develop one central point with clear links between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “natural habitat,” “expansion,” “planned city,” and “apartment blocks,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or informal choices make parts of the argument less clear, such as “shelters for those who dont have,” “small small houses,” and “huge loss of land.” Spelling errors, including “conjusted,” “natrural,” and “governoment,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Some phrases are also unnatural, for example “injustice with the animals” and “avoid of the land losses.” Build a more precise set of housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express cause and effect and to use longer sentence structures, for example when linking land use to habitat loss. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the meaning. The opening has a sentence fragment after “apartment blocks” (“because…”), while “its a good idea” lacks the correct possessive form and “the city life is very conjusted” has an awkward article and structure. There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “which in results not only huge investment but also huge loss of land.” Practise writing complete sentences with one main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammatical relationship is clear.
