Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, the best way to provide home in large cities is to build tall apartment block because from the technical point of view one large apartment consist less amount of space than many small houses build in separate space. Choosing tall apartment help government to control population if all individual choose separate houses there will be no space left in earth. Its discombobulated and peculiar to understand many people do not understand the importance of this topic. There some issue related like people want own house for more privacy but its our responsibility to manage just to solve one we can not accept many problems.
For example yesterday i visited the society where there is no tall apartment block every individual hane their own house which make that specific area feel congestesd there is no place left for supermarket so people are forced to travel like 5 mile just to access basics. If there are tall apartments instead of houses there will be some place for supermarket consequently all people have access to basics.
Countries like Dubai they choose tall apartment instead of small houses that is why their economy increasing because tall building attracts tourists.
in conclusion it is essential to understand the importance of this topic. government must imply some policy to improve their economy, control population effectively, increase tourist attraction, cost of housing, access to basic necessities and manage other related issue.
It is individual obligation to cooperate with government policy and do as they say to cooperate.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give relevant reasons, including efficient land use and space for supermarkets. The visit to a neighbourhood where residents had individual houses is a useful example. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: the link between tall buildings and controlling population is unclear, and the claim that Dubai’s economy is increasing because of tourist-attracting buildings needs support. The discussion of privacy is also introduced but not developed. The response addresses the question only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. It is also 8 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop fewer reasons more fully and explain how each supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you state your view at the beginning, provide reasons and an example, and finish with a conclusion. The supermarket example gives the response a recognisable line of support. However, progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The sentence about people wanting privacy shifts abruptly into “it’s our responsibility,” without explaining whose responsibility this is or how it relates to the argument. The Dubai point also appears without a clear connection to the preceding example. Linking words such as “because,” “consequently” and “in conclusion” are used, but some connections are mechanical or do not make the reasoning clear. Use separate paragraphs for each main reason, and make the relationship between claims explicit with clear references and explanations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “population,” “privacy,” “supermarket,” “tourists” and “basic necessities,” so the reader can follow the general subject. There are also attempts at less common wording, such as “discombobulated,” but it is not appropriate for the intended meaning and makes the point harder to understand. Several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems affect clarity: “provide home,” “tall apartment,” “feel congestesd,” and “imply some policy.” The repeated use of “issue,” “importance” and “tall apartment” also limits range. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than unusual vocabulary for its own sake, and check spelling. For example, use “provide housing,” “high-rise apartment buildings,” and “implement policies.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if all individual choose separate houses there will be no space left.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include missing or incorrect articles and plurals in “one large apartment consist,” “many small houses build,” and “all individual choose”; the verb forms and agreement need correction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in the long supermarket example, where a full stop is needed before “If there are tall apartments.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms and sentence punctuation first, then build longer sentences from those reliable patterns.
