Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern era, the population is increasing rapidly. In urban areas the demand for houses is increasing. Also city areas provide enourmous facilities to lead a convenient life. I strongly agree that in major cities need to construct tall apartment blocks.

Firstly, by having a large apartment many individuals can live there without any kind of issues. Rather it helps them to live together and bridge the gap between each other. Additionally, in a large appartment their are numerous people from different culturals. Therefore, they can share their joy with others and make other feel good. Cosequently, we do not need anymore to feel down in mouth. When we feel sad we can just go to our neibour and share our problems with them.

Furthermore, in the city side areas their are enourmous infrastructure. As a result, we get a small amount of land to built a house for each person. In addition, we need many habitat for individuals to live seperately. Thus, we need a tall apartment where many people can live like a family. As for living a convenient life we need to move city areas where we get best facilities. For instance, better transportation, luxurious products, traditional events, and so on. These are the things that encourage us to stay in urban side areas.

In conclusion, the government can play a vital role in this situation. Because, as for inclining population we need more habitats for people. Therefore, we need large apartment to solev this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear in the opening and conclusion: you strongly support building tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons about limited urban land and the need to house more people. However, the response only partially develops the task. Much of the first body paragraph focuses on neighbours sharing feelings and cultural experiences, rather than explaining why high-rise buildings are an effective way to provide enough homes. The points about infrastructure and limited land are more directly relevant, but they remain general and are not supported with a specific example or explanation of how apartment blocks increase housing capacity. To strengthen the response, develop two focused arguments about housing supply and support each with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion moves from apartment living to cultural sharing and then to feeling sad, without consistently linking these points to the question of providing homes. Connectors such as “Therefore” and “As a result” are used repeatedly, sometimes where the relationship between ideas has not been fully explained. The conclusion also introduces the government’s role without developing it earlier. Group related points together and use clearer links that show how each reason supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “urban areas,” “infrastructure,” and “transportation,” and the reader can generally understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For example, “city side areas,” “inclining population,” and “feel down in mouth” are not natural expressions in this context; “habitat” is also not the right word for homes for people. Spelling errors such as “enourmous,” “appartment,” and “neibour” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of housing-related terms and check spelling and collocations so your ideas are expressed more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, using clauses introduced by “As a result” and “For instance.” However, the range is limited, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. Examples include “I strongly agree that in major cities need to construct tall apartment blocks,” which lacks a clear subject, and “their are numerous people,” where the verb form is incorrect. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, as in “we need many habitat” and “In conclusion, the government can play a vital role in this situation. Because…”. These errors recur and can make some sentences difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and combine ideas into complete, well-punctuated sentences.
