Student answer (Band 6.0)
The Most effective way of providing residence to people in bigger cities is to construct large apartment blocks. From my perspective, I completely agree with this statement because, apartments provide a large number of houses in strategically smaller place and a lot of amenities are provided in an apartment to benefit people living in those communities.
To begin with, constructing huge apartments in metropolitan cities helps the local communities to reside in apartments. For instance, building an apartment can give place for very huge number of people living in the society. traditionally, people prefer to live in individual houses which occupy almost equal amount of land space where an apartment can be built. Furthermore, apartments provide amenities like swimming pool and gym for the people staying in the apartment. For example, all of people need to exercise regularly but living in seperate colonies makes difficult for people living far from gymnasium.
Secondly, building these planned apartments leaves plenty of space in the city for developments. Like, planned layout for apartments leaves space for the city to expand commercially. Moreover, constructing high rise apartments looks aesthetically beautiful which effortlessly makes the city to look good. For instance, most of the metropolitan cities build tall building which look very attractive and also occupy very less space to provide plenty of housing space for locals and residents.
To conclude with, best way to provide housing is to construct large apartments. I strongly believe that building apartments in less space can provide large housing options followed with providing wide range of amenities. they also help city grow economically and aesthetically to benefit locals and residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons: apartment blocks can house many people on less land, offer shared amenities, and leave room for commercial development. These points address the question, and the examples about gyms and city space help explain them. However, some support is general or not fully connected to the claim that tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The aesthetic appeal of high-rise buildings, for example, is asserted rather than explained as a housing benefit. To strengthen the response, develop the practical advantages with more specific reasoning or an example, and acknowledge a limitation or alternative before explaining why apartment blocks remain preferable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “Secondly” make the progression easy to follow, and the main position is maintained. Some linking is mechanical, however, and “Like” is an informal, unclear way to introduce the point about commercial expansion. Connections between ideas could also be more explicit: the discussion of amenities shifts from housing capacity to exercise facilities without clearly showing how this supports the central argument. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make each paragraph’s main claim explicit, then link examples directly back to that claim. This would make the progression more fluent and cohesion less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “metropolitan cities,” “amenities,” “commercially,” and “aesthetically,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “strategically smaller place,” but this is not a natural collocation and makes the idea less precise. Other choices are awkward or repetitive: “provide residence,” “give place,” “huge number,” and repeated use of “apartments” and “space.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “seperate” and “traditionally” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check collocations and spelling. For example, “accommodate residents on a smaller area of land” would express the opening point more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “where,” and “which,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, control is uneven, with errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation. In “because, apartments provide,” the comma incorrectly separates the conjunction from its clause; “a very huge number” also has an awkward article and modifier structure. “Makes difficult for people” needs a subject and a grammatical complement, while “they also help city grow” is missing articles and has unclear sentence-initial capitalisation. Some long sentences combine several ideas without secure grammatical control. Practise accurate clause patterns and article use, and proofread sentence boundaries and capitalisation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
