Student answer (Band 5.5)

From my perspective, many people would undoubtly agree with the statement due to increase in popullation over the years.Over the years, there is an increase in population despite the land remains the same which is causing scarcity of homes.

In old times homes were usually single. There were less people compares to land available but over the years due to over-population it has changed to apartments or flats.Eventhough, rural areas still have single homes but densely populated cities have to shift towards apartments to accomodate the needs of all.Even if there is enough land to have everyone their single home,i would still suggest not to build futher single homes,.for a secure future one needs to plan ahead.By buliding apartment,we can preserve enough land which can be used for other puurposes and in future for residency too.

Living in apertments brings lots of advantage other than housing. It brings people more closer.Nowadays, there are societies which have many apartments secured with wall all around.living in apartments cut off many expenses and responsibilities as those are divided among all the residents of different floors. Societies are designed with everything bult inside available for the residents, that include parks, gyms, grocery shops and parking.

Inshort building an apartment not only conserve land but also make a safe and friendly environment with lot more necessities available.we are a social animal and planing ahead of times for our future people is our responsibility.Building a city with apartments would be beneficial for all in all perspective.Looking for our personal interest woould put our future generation in danger.Looking out for them in advance would not not help them but would be in better interest of our country too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You take a clear position in favour of apartment blocks and address the central issue of providing homes in large cities. Relevant reasons include population growth, limited land, preserving space for other uses, and shared facilities such as parks and shops. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that apartments create a “safe and friendly environment” would be stronger with a specific explanation or example. The discussion of shared expenses and responsibilities is relevant, but its connection to housing supply could also be made clearer. To develop the response further, explain why tall blocks are more effective than alternatives and acknowledge a possible drawback before reinforcing your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, with ideas generally moving from population pressure to the benefits of apartment living. Paragraphs mostly have a clear focus, and linking expressions such as “Even if,” “Nowadays” and “In short” help guide the reader. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The shift from preserving land to apartments bringing people closer could be signposted more explicitly, and “In old times” does not establish a precise contrast. Some references, such as “those” in the discussion of expenses and responsibilities, are not fully clear. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each reason and the main argument explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “scarcity of homes,” “densely populated,” “preserve enough land,” and “residents.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss broader consequences, such as planning for future generations. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “popullation,” “accomodate,” “apertments,” and “conserve” where “conserves” is needed. Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “single homes,” “secure with wall all around,” and “in all perspective.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose precise terms such as “detached houses” or “residential buildings” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession beginning “Even if there is enough land” and a reason clause with “as those are divided.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “there is an increase in population” without a clear time reference, “There were less people compares to land,” and “building an apartment not only conserve land.” Agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries need closer control. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly where commas run into the next word or a full stop is missing. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then proofread punctuation and clause structure.
