Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that constructing a high-rise buildings is the most effective way to provide homes in large cities because apartments are more safer and convenient to live in. I partly agree with this view because people may have disputes over the shared spaces such as rooftop and terrace and also apartments provide limited privacy as people live close to one another.
Apartment blocks are more safer because they mostly built in gated communities with strict security concerns such as armed security gurads and cameras. Visitors are often checked by security guards and show their identification before entering. A a result, people particulalry women and children feel safer and can easily walk and play around the community. in addition, apartments provide facilities such as cleaning, garbage disposal and lift services. People pay additional maintenance charges for these services so they do not have to do it by themselves. For example, most of the high-rise buildings provide exclusive services to the residents so people can live peacefully.
However, the major disadvantage of apartments is that people may have disputes and privacy concerns. The main reason is that apartments are usually small as compared to homes and people live in proximity to one another. Children's noise and family's private conversation can easily be heard by neighbouring families. Moreover, people may have disagreement sometimes over rooftop and terrace. People live on top floors often claimed to use these places, especially those who live on rent pay additional charges to utilize this place for their own purpose. As a result, disputes occur among the other residents of the building who also want to use the same place.
In conclusion, I partly agree that constructing a tall apartment buildings is the best way to provide home because people feel safer in gated communities and apartments provide many facilities. However, people may have arguments over the use of shared places and also due to limited privacy concerns among residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partly agree, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the topic with relevant points about security and facilities, then privacy and disagreements over shared areas. The security paragraph gives concrete examples, such as guards checking visitors and residents using cleaning and lift services. However, the response does not fully connect these benefits and drawbacks to whether tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes; the discussion focuses more on residents’ experience than on housing supply. The point about rooftop disputes is also less clearly explained, particularly the claim about residents on upper floors and renters paying extra. Develop this reasoning and support each main point with a more direct explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting advantages, a contrasting paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. The shift signalled by “However” helps readers follow the change in focus, and the conclusion brings the main points together. Within paragraphs, ideas are generally grouped sensibly, but some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As a result” introduces consequences in both body paragraphs without always making the causal relationship precise, and “Moreover” adds a point that could be connected more explicitly to the privacy discussion. The reference to “this place” is also vague. Use clearer referencing and vary linking methods by showing the exact relationship between each claim and its explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss urban housing, including “high-rise buildings,” “gated communities,” “maintenance charges,” “privacy,” and “shared spaces.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions such as “garbage disposal” and “exclusive services.” However, several word-choice and collocation errors reduce precision: “more safer” is not idiomatic, “security concerns” does not convey the intended security measures, and “disputes over the shared spaces” could be expressed more naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “gurads” and “particulalry,” which detract from control. Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling; a more precise range would help you express the housing arguments with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including reason clauses (“because people live in proximity”) and a relative clause (“those who live on rent”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “constructing a high-rise buildings,” “they mostly built,” and “people live on top floors often claimed,” where article, verb-form, or word-order control is needed. There are also agreement and article problems in “a tall apartment buildings,” as well as sentence-boundary and capitalization errors after full stops, such as “in addition.” These issues do not generally prevent understanding, but they make the writing less accurate. Check singular and plural forms, ensure each clause has a correctly formed verb, and proofread sentence openings and punctuation.
