Student answer (Band 4.5)

In large city the best way to provide enough homes is to build tall apartment blocks,as far as i am concerned i agree with it because:people come to the city because of jobs they want to work and they want to earn money for their own wellbeing.

indeed, large city has many insfractures, many company and a lot of industries beause of that, those who live there have to be in homes with blocks for their proctections, when they build tall apartment blocks it will have a lot of rooms and people could come and rent they will not be jobless.

For instance, a tall with 100rooms for workers and their family that can helps one the government to earn money so the economy sector will be good and people will get jobs for the gate, the rest.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position in the opening—“I agree”—and give a relevant reason: tall blocks can provide many homes for people moving to cities for work. However, the response addresses the question only minimally. The example of a building with “100 rooms” is not explained enough to show how this is the best way to meet housing needs, and the link between housing and people getting jobs is unclear. You also do not consider any limitations or alternative approaches, which would help develop your argument. The response is 133 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough space to explain and support your ideas. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic sequence: you introduce your agreement, give a reason about city employment, and then offer an example. This gives the reader some sense of the argument. However, the response has no clear paragraph structure or sustained progression, and the ideas are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. Linking expressions such as “indeed,” “because of that,” and “for instance” are attempted, but the relationships between the points are not always clear. For example, the move from apartment blocks to residents not being jobless is not fully explained. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and example, and make each sentence build clearly on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant terms, including “large city,” “apartment blocks,” “industries,” “workers,” and “economy,” so the general topic is identifiable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. “Infrastructures” appears to be intended by “insfractures,” while “a tall with 100rooms” does not clearly describe a building. The phrase “jobs for the gate, the rest” is also unclear. Aim for more precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe a “100-room apartment building” and explain that it can “accommodate workers and their families.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas using clauses, as in “people come to the city because of jobs,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and the longer sentences are often difficult to follow. Errors include missing or incorrect articles and agreement, such as “In large city” and “large city has,” as well as faulty verb forms in “many company and a lot of industries” and “that can helps.” Punctuation also makes sentence boundaries unclear: the opening joins several ideas with commas and a colon. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then add controlled complex structures. Check articles, plural subjects, and verb forms—for example, “a large city has” and “this can help.”
