Student answer (Band 5.0)

The most challenging problem people have to face is their living. They don't have their own houses to live in. Individuals are living on the rents. The main problem is that larger cities have tremendous buildings and factories. They are not giving enough space to people for building the massive houses. They are living in a compact homes. Due to this, they are facing the difficulties of privacy. Moreover, their homes consist of only one and two rooms. This is not enough for a huge family.

If we built tall departments, people will live lonely. But it have many drawbacks. Individuals will have to use the lifts to their homes. In addition to this, if sometimes the lifts detrioate, the people will face the hardships. They will not be able to go for work on time. It will also be derimental in some natural disasters like flooding and earthquakes. The most devasting thing in the earthquakes is buildings. By building the tall apartments, we will put the life of citizens in danger. Sometimes, people don't like the supervisionof stangers.

Conversely, it has some advantages. People may spend much time with the stangers. It helps them to understand the unknown person much better. Through the sharing of joys and sorrow, people will get rid from their hectic routine. In the modern countries, most of the people are living that kind of apartments.

I see eye to eye with this statement beacuse nowadays inflation is expanded. People don't have enough money to buy home to buy house for their livinghood. By constructing the apartments, individuals may have their own personal space to live in and to cook and spend time loney.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic and give a position in the final paragraph: “I see eye to eye with this statement.” You also consider disadvantages, such as lift failures and earthquake risks, and mention possible social benefits. However, the position is not consistently clear: much of the response argues against tall apartments, while the conclusion agrees without explaining how these concerns are outweighed. Several points are asserted rather than developed, and the connection between socialising with neighbours and providing enough homes is not made explicit. To strengthen the response, state your degree of agreement clearly from the introduction, explain how apartment blocks increase housing supply, and support each main reason with a relevant example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has recognisable paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Moreover,” “In addition to this,” and “Conversely.” These help the reader identify some shifts between ideas. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow: the opening discusses housing shortages, the next paragraph focuses on risks, and the final paragraph changes to agreement without resolving the earlier objections. Some links are also unclear, particularly the move from lift problems to being late for work. Organise the essay around a clear sequence—your position, supporting reasons, a counterargument, and a conclusion—and use linking phrases to show how each point relates to the question. Clearer references between sentences would also improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “privacy,” “natural disasters,” “inflation,” and “personal space,” and some choices communicate relevant ideas. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make the meaning less clear, such as “tall departments,” “living on the rents,” and “get rid from their hectic routine.” Spelling errors, including “detrioate,” “derimental,” and “devasting,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common collocations for housing and urban development, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise terms would help you explain the housing problem and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of high-rise apartments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures with clauses, for example, “if sometimes the lifts detrioate, the people will face the hardships.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “If we built tall departments, people will live lonely,” where the conditional forms do not match, and “But it have many drawbacks,” which has subject–verb disagreement. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “a compact homes” and “houses.They.” Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially conditionals and agreement, and proofread punctuation and articles.
