Student answer (Band 5.5)

Constructing huge apartment blocks in major cities would be the best way to provide sufficient houses. I agree with this statement as they comes with lots of benefits like security, various luxury facilities like swimming pool, gym, playground for kids.

One of the major benefit of having a house in high apartment blocks is the safety. As all the societies have the guards appointed for the safety of the families. They do not let any unauthorise person enter the society building. For example, when a non resident person came at the gate of society and specify the flat no they want to go to, the guard will send a approval request to the house owner, once approved then the person can proceed, or else they would not let them enter.

Moreover, the apartment building can be build on the same measured land compare to the space required to buildindividual houses. For example, If a flat is of 10000 square meter. The builder can build 20 or more flats at the same space. However, we need 10000 square meter times 20 space to build 20 or more individual houses. The security would not be that tough.

Not only that, society commity members can get together and organise various events on different festival occasions. People can work together, enjoy their time togetherchildrens get to know about our culture and values.

In conclusion, as majority people are moving from rural to urban cities for jobs, they can get their accomodation easily in tall apartment buildings which offers, safety, luxury, festival celebrations, get togethers almost everything which is required.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give relevant reasons, including security, efficient use of land and shared facilities or community events. The land-use comparison is particularly relevant to the question of housing supply. However, some points are not fully explained: the security example takes considerable space without showing how it makes apartment blocks the best way to provide enough homes, and the community-events point is more about lifestyle than housing capacity. Develop the central argument by comparing high-rise housing with alternatives and explaining how it can accommodate more residents in limited urban space.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “Not only that” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Not only that” does not clearly connect the community-events point to the argument about providing homes, and the final list of benefits does not synthesise the reasons. The long security example also interrupts the focus of its paragraph. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s contribution to your position, and make references such as “they” and “the person” unambiguous. This would make the overall progression more consistent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “apartment blocks,” “safety,” “builder” and “individual houses.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “high apartment blocks,” “same measured land,” “approval request” and “festival celebrations.” Spelling and word formation also need attention in items such as “unauthorise,” “commity” and “accomodation.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision. Build a more accurate range for discussing urban housing, density and facilities, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a reason clause in “as all the societies have the guards” and a conditional sequence describing how visitors are admitted. The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “they comes” should be “they come,” and “the apartment building can be build” should be “can be built.” The opening of the security paragraph, “As all the societies…,” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, while “People can work together, enjoy their time togetherchildren…” lacks clear sentence boundaries. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, passive forms and punctuation, and vary sentence patterns while keeping each sentence complete.
