Student answer (Band 6.0)

Construction of tall apartments is considered as best option for offering sufficient homes in urban cities.I agree with this notion to large extent and the points supporting my view will be explained in the subsequent paragraphs.

At the outset there are convincing factors which leads to the agreement with this notion, the first and foremost one is accessibility of accomodation to migrants easily. To be more precise, in the era of industralisation and globalisation many people migrate from rural to urban areas for job opportunities or settlement and by constructing tall apartments will help the migrants to avail them for accomodation without any difficulty. To cite an epitome, the Gillico Valley in Chandigarh is famous because it has various tall block of apartments where many people resides from countryside area including students from multifarious places.

Another worth mentioning point is,less space is occupied. To explain it,the building of high rise apartments vertically would eventually occupy less residential space in cities which would inevitably leads to increase in place for trees and plants.Hence, the green enivornment in cities would result in reducing pollution.

On the paradoxical side, there some reasons which leads to disagreement with this perspective the noteworthy point is disadvantage in times of emergency. To justify it,the multiple blocks of apartment in tall buildings would create hurdles to the individuals who would be living on the top floors as they would not be able evacuate easily during times of emergency or natural disasters such as fire and earthquakes. Therefore, people can suffer in adverse situations.

Agglomerating all the views in the mind, it is concluded that undoubtedly the construction of tall apartment blocks in large cities have benefits but the disadvantage of it cannot be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree to a large extent, and the essay gives relevant reasons involving housing access and land use, followed by a drawback concerning emergencies. This addresses the question and includes a relevant local example, Gillico Valley in Chandigarh. The discussion is not equally developed, however. The point about migrants explains who needs housing, but it does not show in detail how tall blocks provide enough homes or why they are the best option. The environmental benefit is also asserted rather than supported, and the emergency paragraph is brief. To strengthen the response, explain and illustrate each main claim, and make the conclusion reflect more precisely how the drawback affects your overall agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. The progression from benefits to a disadvantage is logical, and signposts such as “To be more precise” and “On the paradoxical side” help readers follow the argument. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, though: “At the outset,” “the first and foremost one,” and “Another worth mentioning point” repeatedly announce ideas rather than connecting them smoothly. The final paragraph summarises the issue but does not clearly restate the extent of your agreement. Improve cohesion by using more direct topic sentences, linking each example explicitly to its claim, and making references such as “it” and “this perspective” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “migrate,” “high-rise apartments,” “residential space,” “evacuate,” and “natural disasters.” There are also attempts at less common or formal vocabulary, but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “accomodation” (also misspelled), “epitome” for an example, and “Agglomerating all the views in the mind.” Other collocations, including “green environment” and “avail them for accommodation,” make the meaning less natural, although it remains understandable. Aim for precise, conventional academic phrasing rather than inserting elaborate expressions. Check spelling carefully and learn vocabulary in collocations—for example, “provide accommodation,” “for instance,” and “taking all these points into account.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as” and “which,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “factors which leads” should be “factors which lead,” while “the building … would … occupy less … which would inevitably leads” needs “lead.” The opening phrase “is considered as best option” also needs an article and a more suitable construction, such as “is considered the best option.” In “there some reasons,” the verb “are” is missing. Work on checking each sentence for a complete subject and verb, agreement, and articles; this will make your complex structures more controlled.
