Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays , the growing population in large cities has created a serious demand for housing . some people believe that constructing tall apartment building is the best solution to this problem, I generally believe with this view because high raise building accommodates more individulas and use use land effectively, although other housing option are also necessary.

On the other hand , developing large aparment are benefical for most of the inhabitants . but in large citites , lands are often expensive and have limited space to live for example , building in islamabad and karachi is highly costly to live most for people due to residential demand . Furthermore, apartments locates near workplace , schools, hospitals are make daily life more convenient.

On the other hand , relaying entirely on tall building may creates some problem. they are high in raise. sometime mostly are too crowded to live if they are not properly planed for example they have limited space of parking , lack of green space , and nosie compalins .

In addition , some families are often prefer to live independent and wide space because they offer to need more privacy and outdoorspace .

Therefore , governments should encourages construction should be build more relaibale and affordable for people to live and provide spacaious parking facilities , ecofriendly environment to live.

In conclusion, according to my view i largely prefer to live in apartment because they mostly effective ways to enjoy large cities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant response and state a generally supportive position, saying tall buildings accommodate more people and use land effectively, while acknowledging that other housing options are needed. You also identify drawbacks such as crowding, limited parking and green space, and explain that some families value privacy. However, the position becomes less clear in the conclusion, where you say you prefer living in apartments rather than directly judging whether they are the best way to provide enough homes. Several points are asserted rather than explained with specific support; the references to Islamabad and Karachi, for example, do not clearly show how apartment construction addresses the shortage. The response is also five words below the required minimum. Develop your examples and make your final judgement explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has an identifiable structure, with an introduction, discussion of benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the broad contrast between apartment blocks and other housing needs. However, progression is weakened by repeated or inaccurate transitions: both main discussion paragraphs begin with “On the other hand,” even though the first presents advantages. Some ideas are also joined in ways that make their relationship unclear, particularly the final recommendation about what governments should build. Paragraphing is present, but the argument does not develop in a consistently logical sequence, and references such as “they” can be unclear. Use transitions that signal the actual relationship between points, and organise each paragraph around one clear claim followed by explanation or an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing,” “residential demand,” “privacy,” “green space,” and “parking facilities,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret, such as “high raise building,” “developing large aparment,” and “eco-friendly environment to live.” Spelling errors, including “individulas,” “citites,” and “compalins,” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “large” and “live.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “high-rise apartment blocks,” “housing developments,” and “provide an affordable place to live.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise topic phrases would make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction (“although other housing option are also necessary”) and a conditional idea about buildings being poorly planned. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “apartments locates … are make,” “may creates,” and “governments should encourages,” where verb forms and agreement are not controlled. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “tall apartment building” and “other housing option.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention: the opening paragraph joins separate ideas with a comma, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each verb against its subject.
