Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, everyone in society wants to live with good infrastructure and facilities. Which leads in increase in demand of homes in large cities. To solve this problem, provide homes by developing multistory buildings. Which comes with loot of benefits like less waste in land by building multistory and also affordable for middleclass families.

One key reason is that, by developing a multistory building at some point it helps to environment by saving land for trees and other habitat of animals. In larger cities where already have a small number of trees; Buy developing buildings lands and trees could be saved and also save habitat of birds and other animals.

Another factor worth considering is, As perspective of economical reason, tall apartment blocks can cheaper than one single tenement. Because in tenement it has very high price because of cities but in tall apartment it is affordable for normal people. To illustrate with, cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, where price of single tenement is more than double as compared to tall apartments blocks.

In my opinion, by providing homes in large cities to full-fill the demand the best option is to develop multistory apartment blocks which also comes with some benefits like saving land and habitat of other animals and birds. Moreover, it is also affordable for middleclass people to live there dream life in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give two relevant reasons: they use less land, potentially protecting green space and wildlife, and they can be more affordable than individual homes. The examples of New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad help make the affordability point concrete. However, the ideas remain brief and are not fully explained; for instance, the claim that apartments are cheaper would be stronger with a clearer comparison or explanation of how shared land and construction reduce costs. The response also does not meet the stated 250-word minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop your reasons and address the question fully. Add a fuller discussion of why this is the best approach, perhaps acknowledging a limitation such as overcrowding or pressure on services.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of argument easy to identify. You also use signposts such as “One key reason,” “Another factor worth considering,” and “In my opinion.” However, some links are mechanical, and sentence fragments interrupt the flow: “Which leads in increase in demand” and “Which comes with loot of benefits” are not complete sentences. The environmental paragraph also repeats the idea of saving land and habitat without adding much progression. Connect each reason to its explanation and example in a smoother sequence, and use clear references so the reader can follow how each point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “infrastructure,” “habitat,” “affordable,” and “apartment blocks,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or informal choices make the writing less natural. Examples include “loot of benefits,” “single tenement,” “middleclass,” and “full-fill the demand.” Some phrases are also repeated, particularly “tall apartment blocks” and “saving land.” Aim for more precise collocations and vary your wording: for example, describe “high-rise apartments” as “cost-effective” and say they can “meet housing demand.” Check spelling and word forms, and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended comparison clearly rather than relying on approximate terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “Because in tenement it has very high price because of cities but in tall apartment it is affordable,” and you use a range of basic sentence patterns. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. The opening “Which leads in increase in demand” is a fragment, while “where already have a small number of trees” lacks a clear subject. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence construction, as in “a multistory building … it helps” and “tall apartment blocks … which also comes.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and singular/plural agreement. Breaking long, uncertain sentences into accurate shorter ones will improve clarity.
