Student answer (Band 5.5)

As the world population is incresing day by day. So in large cites there is less place to build more building. Many people things that best way to have enough home is to make multistory building. I partially agree and disagree with this point of view as its has advantage and disadvanges such decrese in basic needs items and can increase various job options.

As we allow more people to live in a particular city which may lead to other problems such as food, water, and other basic needs which many cause shortage for various items and casues to increase the prices. The other big disadvantage would be pollution, as homes increases the waste products may also increase. Addtional the road taffic might aslo increase which will temperature of that area and leds to major environmental problems. For example Pakistan major city Rawalpindi and Krachi and Lahore are facing the issues. So this cannnot the best solution to make tall building for more houses.

As having more population at paricular area also have somes advantage, due to high population there would be needs of other hospitsl, school, shopping mall and other facitiles which leeds to create more jobs opportuinty in that city. The other advance would be to have more space for other pursose like agricultral and industrial area. So making tall apartments blocks could be the best option for enough homes in large cites.

Overall, to build high story building to provides enough home in large city could not be sutiable as can leed to various problems, such as pollution, environmetal issues, health issues. It can be sutiable to build in benefical in small cites where it can leeds to several benefits ,extra land for agricultral and other commercial purposes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a partly clear position, saying you “partially agree and disagree,” and you discuss both disadvantages and advantages of tall apartment blocks. The points about pressure on food and water, pollution, traffic, and employment are relevant to the topic. However, the position becomes inconsistent: you conclude that high-rise building is unsuitable in large cities, then say it may be beneficial in small cities, without clearly resolving whether it is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. Several claims, such as the link between population and job creation, are asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. State your degree of agreement consistently and develop fewer points with clearer reasoning and evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate disadvantages from advantages. This gives the reader some overall organisation. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from shortages to pollution and traffic, while the second shifts from population growth to services, jobs and land use without explaining the links between them. Connectors such as “So,” “The other big disadvantage,” and “Overall” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not make the relationship between ideas clear. The conclusion also introduces a contrast with small cities that has not been established in the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and link each supporting explanation directly to the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “pollution,” “waste products,” “traffic,” “agricultural,” and “commercial purposes,” so the main ideas can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to read, such as “decrese in basic needs items,” “more space for other pursose,” and “high story building.” Repeated use of “other,” “increase,” and “problems” also makes the expression imprecise. Aim to learn accurate phrases for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the effects of high-density housing without relying on broad or unclear wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “as” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Some sentences are incomplete or joined incorrectly: “As the world population is incresing day by day. So…” is a fragment followed by an unnecessary connector, and “which will temperature of that area” lacks a complete verb phrase. Agreement and verb forms are also often inaccurate, as in “homes increases” and “which leeds to create.” Articles and sentence boundaries are frequently missing or misplaced, which sometimes makes the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles and punctuation. A wider range of structures will be more effective when these basic patterns are controlled.
