Student answer (Band 6.0)
The most convenient way to provide housing in major cities is to construct buildings with multiple floors of apartments. I firmly agree because buying land and building houses in major cities is tough due to high land value of such facilitated areas. Keeping in view the increasing population of world, if single floor apartments are build then majiority of the population will be forced to move farther away from prime areas.
In today's world, the inflation has reached at peak and prices of land in cities have escilated alongside it. It is now very costly to buy land in areas where all facilities of life are available. In alternative to single story houses, the tall buildings with multiple apartment blocks will make it easy to afford the convenience of life offered in bigger cities. For instance, a person can afford a furnished aprtment at 17th floor of a building in almost the same price of only the land.
The population of the world is increasing day by day, if only single story apartments are built then the area of the city will be covered up easily and more people will have to buy houses or places in nearby locations, which can limit them from enjoying all the perks of life in larger cities and for better opportunties they will have to commute to major cities. For example, if a person is unable to find a land to build his own space in the city he will have to find somewhere nearby to live, which may not offer better job or education opprtunity so he might end up travelling across the cities.
In conclusion, apartments in buildings are going to be less expensive then seperate houses making it is possible for middle tier community to have access to better living standard. More people living in a single building will make a space for other such buildings, allowing majiority to stay within the city.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you firmly agree that multi-storey apartments are an effective way to provide housing in major cities. You give two relevant reasons—high urban land costs and population growth—and support them with examples about apartment affordability and commuting from nearby areas. This addresses the task well. However, some points are asserted more than fully explained: for instance, the comparison between an apartment and “only the land” is not developed with a specific illustration, and the link between housing farther from the centre and reduced access to opportunities could be made more precise. To strengthen the response further, explain the benefits and limitations of tall blocks in more depth and ensure each example directly demonstrates the claim it supports.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from land costs to population pressure is logical, and signposts such as “For instance” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Some connections are less smooth, however. The second body paragraph begins with a comma splice—“The population of the world is increasing day by day, if…”—and the repeated focus on people moving away and commuting makes the development feel somewhat circular. The conclusion also introduces “middle tier community” without preparing this idea earlier. Use clearer links between cause and consequence, vary references to housing and residents, and make sure the final paragraph synthesises rather than adds a new point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “multiple floors,” “land value,” “population,” “commute,” and “opportunities,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Keeping in view” and “access to better living standard.” However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision, including “facilitated areas,” “inflation has reached at peak,” and “make a space for other such buildings.” Spelling errors such as “maji ority,” “escilated,” and “opprtunity” also affect the impression of control. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise phrases such as “well-serviced areas,” “land prices have risen sharply,” and “free up space” would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if single floor apartments are build then…” and relative clauses such as “which may not offer better job or education…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, errors recur in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. For example, “apartments are build” should use a past participle, while “the inflation has reached at peak” has an incorrect article and construction. The sentence beginning “The population of the world is increasing day by day, if…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma. Review passive forms, article use, and punctuation, and divide long sentences when needed. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex ideas easier to follow.
