Student answer (Band 5.0)
some think that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment block .
to some point i agree with that point . instead of wasting land on large villas or random , not structured hoods we can just use that lands to build large and tall buildings that can provide houses for 12 family instead of one
using just enough space with the supervise and directing of engineers whos knows what they are doing .
Living in an apartment will eventually cost less on rent then owning a house or renting one and some people prefer to live in their own house where they can fell more comfortable
As we can see in Tokyo , Japan , and New York , USA and even Shangai and most of cities in China they mostly use tall apartmants instead of normal houses to provide the most houses as possible as we know this places are crowded with immigrants and high percentage of residancies .
But i dont think thats the only thing we should focus on they have their own negative points as well such as they need speacial place for parks , need to provide security for the residantets and they cost a lot to build .
With putting all points on mind i think the best thing is to balance between the two ,large apartement blocks and normal houses .
with choosing the right place and space we can select a place speacillay for large apartment blocks and another one for the houses

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant, partly qualified position: you agree that tall blocks can use land efficiently, but conclude that cities should balance apartments with houses. The examples of Tokyo, New York and Chinese cities are relevant, and you mention drawbacks such as the need for parks, security and high construction costs. However, the reasons are brief and some claims are unclear or unsupported—for example, the comparison between apartment rent and owning or renting a house does not clearly support your position. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum: it is 245 words, with 15 words copied from the prompt excluded. Develop each main point with explanation or a specific example, and make your degree of agreement clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from the benefits of tall buildings to examples, then to disadvantages and a compromise. Linking phrases such as “As we can see” and “With putting all points on mind” signal these stages. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the ideas are presented in a single block rather than separated into purposeful paragraphs. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly the sentence about apartment living costing less, which shifts between rent, owning and renting a house. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, limitations and conclusion, and connect each sentence with precise references so the reader can follow how each point supports your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “large cities,” “apartment blocks,” “security” and “crowded,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “random, not structured hoods,” “provide the most houses as possible” and “high percentage of residancies.” Repetition of “large,” “houses” and “build” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise expressions for urban planning and housing, and check spelling carefully. For example, “neighbourhoods,” “residents” and “residential buildings” would make the discussion clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to express reasons and contrast, including “instead of…” and “But i dont think…,” but sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. Errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur throughout: “some think” begins without appropriate capitalisation, “12 family” has incorrect number agreement, and “they mostly use tall apartmants” has an unclear pronoun reference. The opening and final sentences also lack reliable punctuation, while several clauses run together. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check articles, plurals, agreement and punctuation.
