Student answer (Band 5.0)
The best way to provide enough living space in large cities is to build tall apartment buildings because thats a good way to utilize minimal space and accomodate a fair number of people. Moving to big cities is becoming a common trend now a days because people tend to leave their home towns for better education and job opportunites so a decent living space is a basic necessity required by them. Where students are accomodated in college dormitory or private rental hostels in sharing, adults prefer to have their own personal space where after coming back from their workplace they get to relax. So for bachelor adults who are single and they dont have family members with them an apartment is a good choice to live. But those who have families it is challenging for them to adjust in a single apartment. As mostly it happens that space is apartments is quite limited so with children it becomes difficult to manage because as they grow they also need their personal space in form of a seprate room. Because their routines get changed with time which can cause disturbance for adults as well and even children themselves dont feel comfortable about it. So for a family with children a small house is rather a better choice then a single apartment. With increasing housing demands in large cities finding an appropriate place on rent for staying is becoming very hard. As most people prefer to live close to their workplace or in nearby area where they can reach anywhere easily with no hassle of commute but ususally these areas are very expensive as housing and other utilities cost them a major portion of their salary leaving no room for savings or other expenses. To manage cost they choose areas which lie under their allocated budgets. Rental rates of houses and apartments are different depending on their locations it is possible that a person can find a good spacious house in a decent price on one side of city while another on can be living in a small apartment paying more rent just because he choosed to live in an expensive location. So there are multiplr scenarios but the best option for a single person is to live in apartment and it is recommended that they should locate it near their office or work place as it can save their time and cost of commute.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You discuss housing needs in large cities and give relevant reasons, including limited space, the different needs of single adults and families, and the cost of living near workplaces. However, the response only partially answers the central question: it does not clearly state how far you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The conclusion recommends apartments for single people, but does not weigh this against other housing options or explain whether high-rise construction can meet the city’s overall need. Several points, such as children needing separate rooms, are asserted rather than supported with a specific example. State your position directly and develop reasons that evaluate the proposed solution, not only who might prefer an apartment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains a broadly understandable sequence: it moves from urban migration to the needs of single adults and families, then to rent and commuting. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the long, continuous block makes the progression difficult to follow. Many sentences begin with “So,” “As,” or “Because,” creating a repetitive, sometimes fragmentary flow rather than clear links between developed points. The discussion also shifts from whether tall blocks provide enough homes to advice about where a single person should rent, without a clear transition or return to the main question. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph advance one central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general discussion, including “housing demands,” “personal space,” “rental rates,” and “cost of commute.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “a major portion of their salary” and “allocated budgets.” However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “accomodate,” “opportunites,” “seprate,” and “multiplr” are misspelled, while “a decent price” and “a small apartment” are repeated or imprecise in context. Some expressions are awkward, such as “space is apartments is quite limited.” Build a more accurate range for discussing density, affordability, and housing supply, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentences, particularly when explaining why people move to cities and how housing costs affect their choices. However, control is inconsistent, and long sentences often contain several clauses joined without clear punctuation. For example, “Moving to big cities is becoming a common trend now a days because…” runs into multiple ideas, while “So for a family with children a small house is rather a better choice then a single apartment” has problems with article use and sentence punctuation. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “space is apartments is quite limited” and “another on can be living.” Use shorter, complete sentences where needed, and practise accurate clause boundaries, articles, and agreement before adding complexity.
