Student answer (Band 5.5)
I disagree with this statement which is to build tall apartments in large cities, because it do not solve the problem of providing enough homes to citizens.
In large cities there are maximum number of peoples which comes from middle-class background so building tall apartment blocks will not solve that problem. People with jobs are facing problems because they do not effort such expensive apartments. Old age citizens are facing problem in going up and down again and again if lift is not working or not even installed yet. Facing problem to go outside for bringing grocery and other items. Also parents had to keep an eye on ther childrens when they were palying outside. Peoples who came from out station can not effort these expensive apartments.
One of my friend is newly married and shifted to large city because he got job there, so he had to find a home for his family but large city already had more expenses than small cities. Already the rent wa too high, he had to pay extra 2 month advance as well for security purposes. When shift to these apartment, some hidden charges are coming side by side in every month like the water, electricity etc. Moreover, building tall apartments became a risk in case of natural disastors like earth quakes and flood etc happend.
As concluded, building tall apartment blocks in large cities is effecting the every day life of citizens and the pressure to compete in socity is destroying there mental and physical health as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you disagree that tall apartment blocks are the best solution. You give relevant concerns about affordability, access for older residents, child safety, and disaster risks, and the example of your newly married friend adds a personal illustration. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain what alternative housing approaches could provide enough homes, or compare the benefits and limitations of high-rise building. Several points are asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that most city residents are middle-class does not clearly show why apartments fail to increase housing supply. Develop fewer reasons with clearer cause-and-effect and directly address whether tall blocks can help at all.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an opening position, a paragraph of general concerns, a personal example, and a concluding statement. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression between ideas is limited, and the second paragraph moves quickly from affordability to lifts, groceries, child supervision, and people arriving from elsewhere without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “As concluded” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between claims. The personal example also introduces several costs without clearly tying them back to the central argument about housing supply. Group related points, use clearer references, and make each paragraph develop one main reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “rent,” “security purposes,” “natural disasters,” and “mental and physical health.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several inaccurate or repetitive choices make parts difficult to follow. For example, “maximum number of peoples” and “do not effort such expensive apartments” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “hidden charges are coming side by side” is also unclear. Spelling errors such as “disastors,” “society,” and “there” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise housing terms and natural collocations, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated “problem” with more specific terms would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, such as the sentence beginning “One of my friend is newly married…” This shows some effort to connect ideas, but the range is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement (“it do not solve,” “people… which comes”), tense (“parents had to keep”), and sentence construction: “Facing problem to go outside…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “One of my friend” and “these apartment.” These patterns sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and tense consistency.
