Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nodoubt there is overpopulation so due to this people like to live at tall buildings . I partially agree with this statement .
There are many drawbacks of living in tall building because air coverage is very low there and as nowadays we listen many news abot that the constructors use low quality material while constructing so due to weather changes like heavy rains these buildings may demolished and cause many damages and several humans lose their lives also while constructing there is much expenditure on these . In instance a couple of years ago i visited mohali at 3B2 there was a building so it fall and several people died. While living there there is much amount of rent payable for the homes and also the things in supermarkets are very high rated.
On other hand , with living in large cities its very easy to purchase anything in just minutes from markets while in small there so much dificulties for this and also living big cities there are many job opportunities and the handsome salary . As in these cities a person can live professional and safe life .
To conclude that while living in big cities also cause many expences and on other hand a jood job and a handsome salary .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a partial position—“I partially agree”—and include relevant points about housing costs, construction safety, access to shops and employment. However, the response only minimally answers the central question: it does not clearly explain whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes, or compare them with alternatives such as building outward or improving existing housing. Several points focus on the general advantages and disadvantages of living in large cities rather than the effectiveness of high-rise housing. The Mohali example is relevant but brief and not clearly connected to the argument. The response is also 35 words below the required minimum, leaving ideas insufficiently developed. Explain your position directly and support each main reason with a fuller example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to disadvantages, advantages and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the disadvantages paragraph shifts from air coverage and building safety to rent and supermarket prices without explaining how these points connect to the housing proposal. Linking phrases such as “On other hand” and “To conclude” help signal stages, but the connections are sometimes mechanical or unclear, and the conclusion does not bring the main argument together. Develop one central idea at a time, use clearer transitions between related points, and make the final paragraph restate your position on tall apartment blocks.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “overpopulation,” “constructors,” “low quality material,” “rent” and “job opportunities,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “air coverage,” “high rated” for prices, and “a person can live professional and safe life.” Spelling errors, including “dificulties,” “expences” and “jood,” also reduce accuracy. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, although the reader can usually follow the main points. Build a more precise set of housing terms and check spelling; for example, distinguish housing density, construction standards, affordability and access to services.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and some basic clauses communicate your ideas clearly, such as “There are many drawbacks of living in tall building.” However, control becomes less reliable in longer sentences, particularly where several ideas are joined together. For example, “these buildings may demolished” is missing a verb form, and “a person can live professional and safe life” has problems with article use and sentence structure. There are also errors in agreement and tense, as in “it so fall,” alongside inconsistent punctuation and capitalisation. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they limit accuracy. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses.
