Student answer (Band 5.0)

I totally disagree with the statement that by building substaintial structures it is the most appropriate method to provide homes in metropolies. For people having health issues and old age indivisuals it is quite difficult to go upstairs and downstairs several times as the chances of having some issue with lift is common and it is more difficult when the electric power is off. Lifts are most of the time full of people and it cultimates to delay in going to schools, colleges and offices.

I agree that tall apartment blocks help the people to find flats easily and also make their life peaceful as individuals living on ground floor are suffering from noises of vehicles and the area seems to be crowdy always. By building flats on the same structure occupies less space and left land for other purposes such as cultivation, agriculture and parkings. For instance, individuals making there home on the gorund floor and occupy whole area for there living residence but donot have any space to park their cars and for gardening. Humans who donot have their own property in the city where they are doing their jobs and spending there life, it is most suitable for them to rent or buy an appartment in a tall building. Near large structures, there are more shops , educational institutions and shoppings stores as the are is urban. This makes their lifes more easier and organised. These small things save their time and make them more puntual in their daily life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position against relying on tall apartment blocks alone, and you give relevant points about lift problems, noise, land use and access to services. However, the response does not fully develop the extent of your disagreement: much of the second paragraph actually supports tall buildings, and the conclusion is not clearly stated. The examples about ground-floor homes and renting are relevant, but their connection to the claim that tall blocks are not the best solution needs explaining. To strengthen the response, state whether you oppose tall blocks entirely or favour combining them with other housing, then develop two or three reasons with clear examples and a concluding judgement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has two paragraphs and a generally recognisable movement from disadvantages to advantages of tall buildings. Linking phrases such as “For instance” and “This makes” help show relationships between ideas. However, there is no clear introduction or conclusion, and the overall progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph shifts from noise and land use to renting and nearby shops without explaining how these points support your position. Some sentences also contain several ideas at once, making the links unclear. Organise the essay into an introduction with a direct position, focused body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion; use referencing and transitions to show how each example supports the main argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “metropolies,” “cultivation,” “educational institutions” and “urban,” and you attempt to express ideas about housing and city life. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate spellings or word choices make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “substaintial,” “cultimates,” “crowdy” and “punctual” in the context of daily routines. There are also awkward or repetitive phrases, including “tall apartment blocks” and “large structures.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Learning phrases such as “high-rise apartments,” “urban density” and “public amenities” would help you express these ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences using clauses and reasons, for example, “For people having health issues and old age individuals it is quite difficult to go upstairs and downstairs…” However, complex sentence attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. In “I totally disagree … that by building … it is the most appropriate method,” the clause structure is incomplete; “individuals making there home … occupy” also has problems with verb form and agreement. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “the area seems to be crowdy always” and the long sentence beginning “Humans who donot have…”. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although” and “which.”
