Student answer (Band 5.5)

The efficient way to provide maximum houses in big cities is to build large apartment blocks. i personally agree with the satement, as large apartment blocks can help people use space efficiently and make homes more affordable.

From my perspective, one of the main benefitis of making large apartment blocks is that, many people can live at one place and it reduces the cost, which means more people can affored homes in large cities. For example, many people come from differnet parts of the world in large cities, whether for business, education, or to visti. many struggle to find budget friendly accomodation to live in such cities, by making large apartment blocks we can solve this problem as they can share the apartments, which allows them to afford the rent as well.

Other than that, by making large homes we can save huge space, which we can utilize for other benefits, such as making more homes, utilising the land for parks, or planting more trees. which would not only benefit the people, but will also help us keep our enviroment clean and live able.

In conclusion, making large appartments not only allow people to live togeather but make homes more affordbale and allow us to use the remaining space more efficently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that apartment blocks can provide homes efficiently, and you give two relevant reasons—shared accommodation may reduce costs, while denser building can leave space for parks and trees. These points address the question, but they are only partly developed. The example about people arriving for business, education or visits focuses on short-term accommodation and does not fully explain how apartment blocks provide enough permanent homes. The environmental point is also asserted rather than supported with a specific explanation or example. The response is 211 words, below the required 250, so there is limited space to develop your reasoning. Extend each main point with clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. The progression from affordability to land use is easy to follow, and phrases such as “For example” and “Other than that” signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are awkward or unclear. The long sentence beginning “For example, many people come…” combines several points without clear boundaries, and the sentence starting “which would not only benefit…” is a fragment rather than a complete continuation. The conclusion also repeats the introduction instead of drawing the reasons together. Use clearer sentence boundaries and develop each paragraph in a more deliberate sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “apartment blocks,” “affordable,” “utilize,” and “environment.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision. For instance, “maximum houses” is not a natural way to describe increasing housing supply, while “share the apartments” does not clearly express the intended arrangement. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “satement,” “affored,” “differnet,” and “enviroment.” Repeated use of “large” and “homes” further limits variety. Build a more accurate set of housing-related expressions and check spelling carefully; this will make your argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a clause with “which means” and a contrast structure with “not only…but also.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation remain. In “one of the main benefitis … is that, many people can live,” the comma interrupts the clause, and the singular subject pattern is not controlled consistently. The sentence beginning “For example” runs several independent ideas together, while “which would not only benefit the people…” is a fragment. Capitalisation at sentence beginnings is also inconsistent. Practise separating complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation; more accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the response.
