Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern era, managing wide range of people has become a long-standing debate. While some people thinks that the best way to give sufficient home in large developing cities is to construct high rise building block I fully agree with statement because it became challenging to accommodate numerous people in cities.

At the beginning, population of cities is increasing nowadays especially in cities where employment range is high. In order to manage them, it should be plan to design building that comprise of multiple apartments. For example, in China, which is known for its high population in the World, developed building mainly consisted of 25 plus apartment just for the purpose to facilitate the residents of cities without facning any issue.

In addition, i agree for this statement due to the fact that less area will be covered to provide residents of greater quantity. Therefore, more places will be available to build like public parks, shopping mall, and gyms. Furthermore, in less developing cities like Karachi encounters less space to build for recreational activities for ordinary people because of high population in it. Moreover, infrastructure of city will surely be better by adding greenary area to make the environment more attractive. Take an evident of Lahore, which is the city of Pakistan, has been well developed in recent years more efficiently. The government of Lahore replaced most of the home with a tall building and because of this extra area was covered with Gym and other health facilities.

In conclusion, building enough home in face of tall apartments is far better than the area largely placed with multiple homes. In my opinion, it will create more pleasant environement as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you fully agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including rising urban populations and the possibility of using less land for housing, then support these with examples from China, Karachi and Lahore. This covers the task well, and the explanation of how denser housing could leave space for parks and facilities shows some development beyond simply stating your view. However, parts of the support are unclear or insufficiently explained: the China example does not clearly show how the buildings solve the housing shortage, and the Lahore example makes a broad claim about replacing homes without explaining its basis. Clarifying and extending these examples would make the argument more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from population pressure to land use and public facilities. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Therefore” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with several transitions added where the connection could be made more naturally. Some references are also unclear: “manage them” does not precisely identify what needs managing, and the sentence about Lahore combines the city, government action and resulting facilities in a confusing sequence. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it in a clear order. More precise referencing and fewer formulaic connectors would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban development, including “accommodate,” “infrastructure,” “recreational activities” and “residents,” and this gives you enough range to discuss the topic. Some less common choices are not used accurately or naturally, however: “employment range,” “building block,” “face of tall apartments” and “take an evident of” make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. There are also spelling errors, such as “facning,” “greenary” and “environement,” alongside imprecise repetition of “city” and “area.” These issues sometimes affect clarity, even though the overall message remains understandable. Focus on accurate collocations and check spelling; straightforward, precise wording is more effective than ambitious phrases used incorrectly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “China, which is known for its high population” and a reason clause introduced by “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction recur. For example, “some people thinks” should use a plural verb, while “it should be plan” needs a correctly formed passive construction. The opening sentence also lacks clear grammatical structure, and the Lahore example contains a faulty clause connection. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check punctuation and capitalisation.
