Student answer (Band 4.5)
In my opinion The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall aprtment block . in large cities many people go for better work oppotunities for their better life style but the main problem in large cities they face is that due to large number of people in these cities there are limited number of homes . due to this problem many people go through from many difficulties because they didnt have proper living home their by which they also didnt work well because if we have our own home aaaaaafter hard work we sleep at night easily and comfortably and if we didnt have our personal space we tolerate many thinf so according to my thoughts the government can build tall apartment blocks due to which the area of city also safe for plants and trees and by formation of new apartment blocks on existing residential building it also minimize the problem of didnt find personal space for example if government make more homes on land then a time comes when there is no enough land remains for trees and plants due to which we tolerate many envirnmental problems like we didnt have freash air and it also effects our health to badly so rather then this build tall appartment not only provide personal space it also beneficial for our envirnment because we have enough land for plants and trees and we didnt tolerate health problem and also have fresh amd clean air. building tall appartments are beneficial for us in every way we have a clean surrounding and also everyone have their personal space.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You take a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give relevant reasons: they can provide homes while preserving land for trees and plants, with cleaner air as a related benefit. This addresses the central question, but the support remains general. For example, the point that residents need personal space is repeated rather than explained with a specific example, and the environmental argument is not balanced against possible disadvantages or other housing approaches. The response therefore only partly develops its ideas. To strengthen it, explain how building upwards increases housing capacity in a limited urban area, then support this with a concrete example and a brief qualification. The response meets the required length; 14 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a recognisable line of thought: urban population growth creates a housing problem, and taller buildings are presented as a solution that can preserve green space. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the response largely forms one extended sequence. Connections such as “due to this problem,” “for example,” and “rather then this” are repetitive or awkward, so the reader has to work to follow how the points relate. The conclusion also repeats the claim about personal space and clean surroundings rather than clearly summarising the argument. Separate the introduction, each main reason, and the conclusion into paragraphs, and use clearer transitions to show cause, example, and result.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “residential building,” “environmental problems,” and “fresh air,” which helps communicate your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “personal space,” “plants and trees,” and “problem.” Frequent spelling errors, including “aprtment,” “opportunities,” “environmental,” and “fresh,” make the writing less clear and reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “go through from many difficulties” and “effects our health to badly.” Build a wider set of accurate housing and urban-planning terms, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, “face difficulties” and “negatively affects health” would express your intended meanings more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas using longer sentences and clauses, for example when explaining how population growth creates housing pressure and how building upwards could preserve land. However, these complex attempts are often faulty, and sentence boundaries are frequently unclear. The opening runs into the next sentence without appropriate capitalisation or punctuation, while forms such as “there are limited number of homes,” “everyone have,” and “if government make” show problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms. The repeated use of “didnt” also creates tense and sentence-pattern problems. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
