Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that the best approach to provide sufficient homes in big cities is to construct high-rise apartment buildings. I strongly to this statement because it will provide more space for leisure activities and may reduce traffic congestion.
The primary reason of building tall apartment blocks in metropolitan cities is that it will provide enough space to create large parks, cafe and areas for social gathering where children and elderly people can enjoy. High-rise apartment buildings not only leave land for leisure activities but also provide security and sense of belongingness. This may support the mental and physical well-being of elderly people. For instance, people living in apartments can leave their children and senior citizens alone at home because of the availability of tight security.
Another significant reason is reduce traffic congestion. If individuals start leaving in metropolitan cities near their work, this will reduce the traffic and travelling time. Also, individuals may start travelling by public transportation system which will also decrease the air pollution. The government should invest more money in building tall apartments in cities because it offers several benefits to environment as well as to citizens. Studies have shown that, in many developed countries, the government already implemented this project. As a result, country is experiencing good quality of air and reduce traffic.
In conclusion, the most effective way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build high-rise apartment blocks. I strongly agree to this viewpoint because it offer several benefits such as reduce traffic congestion, security and more land for leisure activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly [agree]”) and conclusion, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons: space for leisure facilities and reduced commuting. You also add examples, such as parks and public transport, so the response addresses the question. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The link between high-rise housing and creating large parks is asserted rather than explained in terms of how land is saved or allocated. The claim that apartment security allows children and older people to be left alone is also not clearly connected to whether tall blocks are the best way to provide homes. Develop each reason with a more precise explanation or a specific, credible example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Signposting such as “The primary reason” and “Another significant reason” helps readers follow the argument, and the ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. The security example follows the point about leisure space without a clear transition, while “Studies have shown” introduces a broad claim without identifying what evidence it supports. The conclusion also lists benefits in a compressed way rather than synthesising the argument. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and vary transitions so the organisation feels more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “high-rise apartment buildings,” “metropolitan cities,” “traffic congestion,” and “public transportation system.” These expressions make the subject clear, and you attempt more formal wording such as “significant” and “well-being.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, though: “I strongly to this statement,” “sense of belongingness,” and “start leaving in metropolitan cities” do not express your intended meaning naturally. There is also repetition of “individuals” and “provide.” Aim for precise collocations and more varied wording, for example, “agree with this statement,” “a sense of belonging,” and “live in city centres.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional sentence (“If individuals start… this will reduce…”) and a relative clause (“where children and elderly people can enjoy”). Most sentences communicate the main point, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “I strongly to this statement” is missing a verb, “Another significant reason is reduce traffic congestion” needs a grammatical complement, and “it offer” should agree with its subject. There are also article and plural issues in “a sense” and “large parks, cafe and areas.” Check verb forms and agreement, and proofread articles and plural nouns. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument smoother and clearer.
