Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is believed that the best way to provide sufficient accomodation in big cities is by constructing high-rise buildings. I believe that tall buildings solve the problem of space in popular cities and cost of renting or owning a house.
In many popular cities finding a place to live is a very daunting task. With increasing population, it is difficult to plan housing arrangments for so many people with indepedent homes which have enough space for all the members of a family. Tall buildings allow construction of big apartments which offer sufficient space and makes living comfortable. For example, in cities like Mumbai, more than half of the population live in apartment complexes which offer bigger area as compared to individual houses that lack space and are too crowded because of closely built homes.
Cost is another big concern. As land is scarce is cities because of this the cost of buying a land for house construction or buying an already bulit home are both expensive. This can create a financial burden for people who do not have enough resources to guarantee home security. For instance, A major population of people living in Bengalore city are migrants. People have moved from other states in search of better employment and do not earn enough to buy or rent a home in such an expensive and popular city. Such individuals rely on high-rise building societies where cheaper flats are availabe on rent.
I find that building tall apartments is the best way to tackle the problem of housing and fulfill housing requirements.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support high-rise housing because it addresses limited space and affordability, and the conclusion restates this view. Both reasons are relevant, and the Mumbai and Bengaluru examples help connect the argument to real urban conditions. This meets the task well, but the support is not equally developed: the space paragraph explains the pressure on land and family needs, while the affordability paragraph mainly asserts that rented flats are cheaper without showing how high-rise construction makes them affordable or considering possible drawbacks. To strengthen the response, explain the link between building vertically and increasing the supply of lower-cost homes, and develop one example with more specific detail. This would make the argument more fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a concluding statement. Topic sentences such as “Cost is another big concern” make the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. The organisation is effective, though some connections are a little mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “For instance.” There is also an awkward transition in “As land is scarce is cities because of this,” which makes the relationship between the cause and the cost claim less smooth. Use a clearer linking structure, such as “Because land is scarce, prices rise,” and vary transitions while ensuring each pronoun or reference clearly points back to its subject.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “high-rise buildings,” “population,” “financial burden,” “migrants,” and “housing requirements.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and some phrases show an attempt to use more formal language. However, there are several spelling errors, including “accomodation,” “arrangments,” “indepedent,” “bulit,” and “availabe,” which reduce accuracy. Some wording is also imprecise or unnatural: “popular cities” is used where “densely populated cities” is intended, and “guarantee home security” does not clearly express the idea of being able to afford housing. Aim for more precise collocations and proofread spelling; this would make the vocabulary more controlled and flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “This can create a financial burden for people who do not have enough resources” and a relative clause describing apartment complexes. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “As land is scarce is cities because of this the cost…” combines two cause structures and needs restructuring; “Tall buildings allow construction of big apartments which offer sufficient space and makes living comfortable” has a subject–verb agreement problem (“make”). There are also article and number issues in “buying a land” and “a major population.” Work on sentence boundaries and agreement, and edit longer sentences for one clear grammatical structure. Greater accuracy across these complex forms would improve control.
