Student answer (Band 5.5)

Large cities often encounter with an accommodation issues. Building a tall apartments might help to provide houses to many resident on specific land area. It is seem like a good solution but i don't agree with this solution because i think it will detrimental consequences in terms of a health than an advantages.

Big cities specially with an advance infrastructure and better opportunities often face problems to deal with growing population of those cities. Constructing a tall apartments would help to deal with accommodating issues on a limited space but it can cause the other issues one of the highlighting issue can be health related. Because many houses might face issue of not getting enough sunlight which is main natural source to gain vitamin D in a body, which could lead to many diseases related to bones due to deficiency of vitamin D.

As someone who been grown up into apartment housing system, there are many other factors which also affect the overall social environment of building such as dispute over water supply, not following hygiene instructions by residents and many more.

Although i agree it could be beneficial for the government to build apartments vertically so it could save space to utilize for the other projects. For example, building public parks, but the consequences are more detrimental than the benefits of building a vertical apartments.

In my conclusion, i believe it might be good option to build tall apartment to overcome the settlement issues for residents but they might be other better options to deal with that because the consequences are far more dangerous than the benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You take a clear position against tall apartment blocks as the best solution, while acknowledging their space-saving benefit. The discussion of limited sunlight and possible vitamin D deficiency is relevant, and your experience of apartment living adds a personal perspective. This addresses the question, but some points are less fully developed: the claims about health effects and disputes over water or hygiene are listed without examples or explanation of how common or serious they are. The alternative of using saved land for parks is mentioned, but other housing approaches are not explored. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences with a specific example and clarify why these drawbacks outweigh the benefit of accommodating more residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present drawbacks and an advantage, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally follow a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Although” and “For example” help show relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The second paragraph begins with “Because” as a sentence fragment, and the shift from health concerns to social disputes is abrupt. The conclusion also repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the main reasons. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and organise the body so each paragraph develops one main point with supporting detail.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “accommodating issues,” “limited space,” “sunlight,” “vitamin D,” and “social environment.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and phrases such as “utilize for the other projects” show an attempt to use more formal language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “accommodation issues,” “highlighting issue,” and “settlement issues.” Repetition of “issues,” “benefits,” and “consequences” also limits precision. Aim for more natural combinations and vary repeated terms—for example, distinguish housing shortages from problems within apartment buildings. More accurate phrasing would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea about sunlight and a concession beginning “Although.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur across the response. Examples include “It is seem like,” “i don't agree,” “many resident,” and “someone who been grown up”; these involve verb forms, capitalisation, agreement, or missing grammatical elements. The sentence beginning “Because many houses…” is also incomplete, while “i believe it might be good option” needs an article. Work on forming complete sentences and checking verb patterns, articles, plurals, and capital letters. Greater control of these basics would make your complex ideas easier to follow.
