Student answer (Band 5.0)
In todays evolving world, where people have many issues in their lives, accomodation is one of the significant problem which they are facing. There is an argument nowadays that building tall appartment blocks in large cities can provide enough homes is the best solution. This essay will shed light on this issue. I totally disagree with this point of view as it has many environmental concerns involved.
Firstly, the people of the society should think about global warming. Building such tall appartment blocks will have a negative impact in this matter. For example, such buildings will consume more of an electricity, furthermore, to build these buildings government needs to remove trees which will affect on the sustaibility of Earth.
Secondly, larger cities already have air and noise pollution, which in my opinion will be increased if huge buildings will be constructed. Government should plan in such a way where both the problems should be resolved. Factories should be places out of the cities, so the houses can be build in a way that everyone should have home. For instance, in Qatar all the factories are in the Industrial area, where as all the houses are in the residential area where they have health centers, small super markets and play groups.
In conclusion, this issue has a great depth and importance. In my opinion, building tall apartments is not a good idea to provide homes to the people. Instead the higher authorities and us together should think of something to resolve this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you totally disagree with tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons concerning electricity use, tree removal, and urban pollution. The Qatar example also adds some support. However, the response addresses the question only partially because it does not fully examine whether high-rise construction can provide enough homes or compare it with other ways of increasing housing. Some claims are asserted rather than explained—for example, why taller buildings necessarily increase air and noise pollution, or how moving factories would solve the housing shortage. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and a specific link to the question, and make your alternative more concrete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow your overall disagreement. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases can feel mechanical. In the second body paragraph, the discussion moves from pollution to factory locations and then to Qatar’s residential facilities without clearly showing how these points support your argument about providing enough homes. The phrase “where both the problems should be resolved” also has an unclear reference. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain its connection to the question, and use linking and referencing more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “global warming,” “air and noise pollution,” “residential area,” and “health centers,” so the reader can understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “accomodation,” “appartment,” “sustaibility,” and “consume more of an electricity.” Phrases such as “this issue has a great depth and importance” are also unnatural in this context. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “housing shortage,” “energy consumption,” and “environmental impact.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise expressions will make your argument clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which in my opinion will be increased” and a conditional construction in “if huge buildings will be constructed.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “accommodation is one of the significant problem” has a number-agreement error, while “the houses can be build” uses the wrong verb form. The opening sentence is also awkwardly constructed, and “Factories should be places out of the cities” lacks a correct passive form. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using varied structures.
