Student answer (Band 5.5)
I completely agree that in large cities, the best way to address housing shortages is to built high-rise apartment blocks. This eassy will discuss how high apartments will solve the problem of home shortages.
Generally speaking, there are number of reasons why i agree that tall apartment will solve the home shortage in large cities. One reason is that , it needs less space to built and a large number of families live together in one building. In large cities average apartment building is 9 or 10 stories and approximately 30 to 35 flats available in my country. Second reason, it is cause less environment pollution because everything is well mainted in building. It also cost-effective, in modern apartment there are lots of new features to save electricity and water. Every electric device consume less electricity and provide a better service and water can be recycled. Furthermore, tall buildings have a strong security and provides modern facilities such as elevators, backup generator and personal security guard. People can go to the rooftop and spend a qaulity time with their friends or family, it is a common activity in our conutry.
In addition, it helps people to live together and share their responsibilty to one another because they lived in the same building. For instance, there are a good cummunication is build and it is beneficial for our society. A further point, tall buildings help people in the time of natural diseaster such as tornedo, flood etc, people stay safe in buildings because it was built strong and manage any kind of problems, but earthquake is dangerous for tall buildings because sometimes a strong quake can fall down a building and many people have to die.
In conclusion, I believe that tall buildings is a great solution to provide homes in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that high-rise apartments are the best response to housing shortages, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, lower resource consumption, shared facilities and security, and you include examples such as the number of flats in a typical building in your country. However, some points are not fully explained in relation to providing enough homes. For example, the discussion of rooftop leisure and neighbours sharing responsibilities does not show clearly how these features address the shortage. The point about natural disasters is also mixed: you mention safety, then acknowledge earthquake risks without explaining how this affects your overall position. Develop the strongest housing-related reasons more fully and clarify this qualification.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, with the main position maintained throughout. Sequencing phrases such as “One reason,” “Second reason,” “Furthermore” and “In addition” help readers follow the list of supporting points. However, the first body paragraph contains many different claims—space, pollution, cost, security and leisure—so the progression can feel like a catalogue rather than a developed argument. Some links are also unclear, particularly the move from natural-disaster protection to earthquake danger. Group related ideas and explain how each supports the central claim. More precise referencing and fewer formulaic transitions would make the connections between sentences smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “housing shortages,” “high-rise apartment blocks,” “recycled,” “security” and “natural disaster.” There are also attempts to use more specific expressions, such as “backup generator” and “personal security guard.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less natural, for example “home shortage,” “environment pollution,” “quality time” (misspelled in the response), and “natural diseaster.” Repetition of “tall buildings” and “people” also reduces flexibility. Aim for accurate phrases such as “housing demand,” “environmental impact” and “residents,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the benefits of high-rise housing from general advantages of apartment living.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and a contrast introduced by “but.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and articles reduce accuracy. For example, “there are number of reasons” needs an article, while “it needs less space to built” has an incorrect verb pattern. In “Every electric device consume,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “tall buildings is” is also incorrect. Some sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise checking each sentence for a complete clause, correct subject–verb agreement and consistent tense; then use complex structures selectively and accurately.
