Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people argue that best way to arrange enough homes in metropolitan cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I largely agree with these statement. Because these is best way to support rising urbanisation, and with the cost effective solution.

Firstly, reason behind is because, as we already know that rising sea levels affect cities with flood like secuation everynow and then. So best way is to go up for space management. For example, many metropolitan cities are already so huge that reaching from one point to other takes forever, so efficient way is to build up, ratherthen side ways. So these is the best way to build tall apartment blocks. And can also provide enough homes to accommodate everyone.

Secondly, in large cities the cost of land is so much surged that affordability is out of reach. For instance, in large cities the price of land per square feet is, so much high that normal family cannot afford to live there. So building tall apartent blocks is a cost efective solution to support rising urbanisation in larger cities. It costs less, and with todays advancement in construction methord we can now build earthquck proof tall buildings. It saves land which we can use for other things, and a cost effective way to arrange homes for people.

In conclusion, maybe it has some downe side but largely i believe that this statement is correct , and i agree with this statement. As these is the best way to provide enough homes to people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you largely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. You explain that building upwards can use space efficiently and that high land prices make apartments a more affordable option; the reference to earthquake-resistant construction also supports your case. However, some reasoning is not fully developed. The discussion of rising sea levels and flooding is introduced without showing clearly how apartment blocks solve that problem, and claims such as “It costs less” need explanation or an example. Addressing a possible disadvantage more specifically would also make the response more complete. Overall, the task is answered, but some ideas need clearer support and development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “So” and repeated statements that building tall blocks is the best solution. Some links between ideas are unclear: the move from flooding to the time needed to travel across a city is not explained, and “Because these is best way…” is a fragment rather than a clear continuation of the introduction. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make each sentence’s relationship to the previous point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “metropolitan cities,” “rising urbanisation,” “affordability,” and “construction,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main arguments. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural. Examples include “flood like secuation,” “price of land … is so much high,” “apartent blocks,” and “construction methord.” Phrases such as “cost effective solution” are repeated rather than varied, and “arrange enough homes” is not a natural collocation in this context. Aim to learn accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; more precise vocabulary would make your reasoning clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “For example” and a relative clause in “cities that are already so huge.” However, control is inconsistent, and some sentence structures are incomplete or inaccurate. “Because these is best way…” is a fragment, while “I largely agree with these statement” has errors in determiner and agreement. Other examples include “normal family cannot afford” and “It saves land which we can use,” where articles or sentence connections need attention. Punctuation also creates awkward breaks, as in “the price of land per square feet is, so much high.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause links, then proofread each sentence.
