Student answer (Band 5.0)
Making tall buildings is the best method for providing enough houses for the people in large cities. I am strongly agree with this statement because it is the good way for large spaces to be used for working areas and experiments.
On the one hand, making tall building apartments in big cities is good for people because they can easily afford their appartment rents because owing a house in large cities is much more expensive than owing an apartment. For instance, cities like New York is expensive as compare to other cities near to urban areas.
On the other hand, In large cities their are alot of people because big cities have more opportunities, So, this is a solid reason for people to move to big cities to secure their future and earn money. In addition, the population of the big cities are high and every where is commercial buildings and working areas. So, providing every person a home mandatory. For his reason, making a tall building apartments is the best way to provide a home to every indiviual for living. For example, if every person own a house on ground level. As a result, it lead to the shortage of space for everyone house as well as working areas were being affected.
In my opinion, it is the best and affordable way for saving money for your future and also it is best for cities to manage large spaces for living areas and working areas because in future the population is grownig rapidly and we have to manage these spaces wisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons about affordability, population growth and conserving urban space. The New York example and the contrast with everyone owning a ground-level house help illustrate your view. However, the response only partly develops the task: the affordability point is asserted rather than explained, and the example about New York does not clearly show how apartment blocks provide enough homes. The opening also refers to using space for “experiments,” which is not developed later. To strengthen the argument, explain how high-rise housing increases the number of homes on a limited area of land, and support each main reason with a specific, clearly connected example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its main sections and follow the general topic. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In addition.” However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For his reason” does not clearly refer back to the preceding point, while “So” is repeated to connect ideas that need fuller explanation. The first body paragraph is brief, and the second combines population growth, employment, housing and land use without a clear sequence. Organise each paragraph around one reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “apartment rents,” “population,” “commercial buildings” and “shortage of space,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “big cities,” “working areas” and “tall building apartments.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “owing a house,” “secure their future” in this context, and “manage large spaces.” Spelling errors such as “appartment,” “indiviual” and “grownig” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing urban housing, land use and density, and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if every person own a house on ground level.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “I am strongly agree,” “cities like New York is,” “their are alot of people,” and “the population … are high,” which show problems with verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. The conditional sentence also lacks a complete, well-formed result, and punctuation is inconsistent, especially in the long sentence beginning “In addition.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and conditional patterns, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
