Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern society, providing enough homes in large cities has become a debate. Some people believe that constructing large apartment blocks to providing enough homes can be the most effective way in big cities. I partly agree with this view becuase building tall apartment blocks can provide better opportunities and effective use of limited land. This essay will discuss both views.
On the one hand, large cities has become overcrowded and providing enough homes has become significant. Building tall apartment blocks provide various facilities such as use of limited land. This is because High-rise buildings can provide a large number of flats, helping meet the needs of a growing urban population. For instance, i visited karachi the most famous and populated city of Pakistan. it has many high-rise buildings to providing enough homes, each building has about 22 flats. Therefore, tall apartment blocks can be the effective way to facilitate people and make their lives more convenient.
On the other hand, there are some people oppose this notion. As they believe that living in tall buildings can have bad impacts on childrens and older peoples' lives. This is because children do not have enough space to play outside and older people also do not have own space to sit with their friends and spend quality time to refresh their minds. For instance, people live in saperate landed homes are more active rather than those living in tall apartment blocks. Therefore, building small saperatelanded homes provide postive affects on health.
In conclusion, although saperate landed homes can be more benficial to people, I believe that tall apartment blocks far more beneficial in large cities becuase it provide better opportunity and enough homes for outsiders.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear, though qualified, position: you partly agree in the introduction and ultimately favour tall apartment blocks in the conclusion. The response addresses both sides, with relevant points about using limited land and the lack of outdoor space for children and older residents. The Karachi example also helps illustrate the housing argument. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the claim that high-rises offer “better opportunities” is not explained, and the disadvantages are asserted rather than supported with specific evidence. The conclusion also shifts from partial agreement to a stronger preference without clarifying the extent of your agreement. Explain why high-rise construction is the best option compared with alternatives, and develop each main reason more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the change in viewpoint easy to follow, and examples are placed alongside the points they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical: several sentences begin with “This is because,” “For instance” or “Therefore,” and the links do not always show a clear cause-and-effect relationship. The opening says the essay will discuss “both views,” but the conclusion does not clearly reconcile them with the stated partial agreement. Improve cohesion by linking each example directly to the claim it supports and using clearer references, while varying transitions and avoiding repeated formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “overcrowded,” “high-rise buildings,” “urban population” and “limited land,” which helps communicate the central issue. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “to providing enough homes,” “bad impacts,” “separate landed homes” and “positive affects on health.” Repetition of “enough homes,” “tall apartment blocks” and “provide” also restricts flexibility. Spelling errors such as “becuase,” “saperate” and “benficial” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more precise set of housing-related expressions and check spelling and word forms; for example, distinguish “effects” from “affects” and use natural collocations when describing residents’ wellbeing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a relative clause (“people live in separate landed homes…”). However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “Some people believe that constructing… to providing,” “large cities has become,” and “building tall apartment blocks provide,” where verb forms or subject–verb agreement are faulty. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “i visited karachi the most famous…” should be punctuated and structured more clearly, and “people live in…” needs an appropriate relative construction. Practise checking agreement, infinitive and gerund patterns, articles, and punctuation, then use a wider variety of accurate sentence structures.
