Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You give a relevant position, saying tall apartment blocks are better because they use less space and can house many people. You also introduce a counterpoint about privacy and parking, so the response engages with the topic. However, the task asks you to explain how far you agree and support your view with reasons and examples; these points are only briefly stated, and the final comment about decorating a home is not clearly connected to the comparison. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, leaving the argument incomplete. Develop each reason with explanation and a specific example, and make your degree of agreement clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces population pressure, gives a preference for apartment blocks, and then mentions a disadvantage. The contrast signalled by “But” helps the reader recognise a change in direction. However, the ideas are not developed into clear paragraphs, and the links between them are sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the point about people being happy to decorate a home appears abruptly after the parking and privacy concerns. Some sentences also run together or contain unclear connections. Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for supporting and opposing points, and a conclusion; use linking phrases to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “population,” “agriculture field,” “privacy,” and “car parking,” which shows an attempt to discuss urban housing. However, the range is limited, and several spelling or word-choice errors make parts of the message less clear, such as “Ther,” “peoples,” “socities,” and “apace.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “make their homes in houses” and “decorate home according to him ideas.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and a wider range of housing terms, such as “residential buildings,” “land use,” and “housing demand.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise phrases will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You communicate several basic ideas using simple sentence patterns, and the contrast introduced by “But” shows an attempt to connect clauses. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and sentence structures are mostly simple. Examples include “In large cities population increase day by day,” where the subject and verb form are not correctly matched, and “tall apartment blocks is better,” where the plural subject requires a plural verb. The sentence about privacy and parking also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate articles, agreement, and verb forms, then add some controlled complex sentences using “because,” “although,” or “which” to explain your reasons.
