Student answer (Band 5.5)

A metropolitan city is a large, densely poulated urban core and its surrounding suburbs, towns and economic regions function as integrated whole. Metropolitan city is home to millions of residents.

In the past before the technology advancement people generally prefer to live in calm places closer to nature and called place home where they can get peace of mind, but with passage of time and advancement in technology metropolitan cities become home to millions of residents.

Metropolitan cities are home to sky scrapper building and million of residents prefer to live in these tall sky scrapper apartment blocks, Idea to which I completely agree.

Because in from the current trends we can easily understand more and more people are tending to move to metropolitan cities due to multiple reasons like jobs, education etc due to which there is an extensive stress on these places to accomodate the general public. Instead of directly giving them permission to do constructions, government and construction companies are themselve making tall apartment blocks to reduce this stress on cities.

There are multiple reasons why I support the idea of living in tall apartment blocks. One of main reason is, purchasing a land and then constructing a house in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, London etc require extensive financial resources. Construction itself is extremely costly task.

You can get good apartment in those tall building blocks and less costly in comparsion to finding place and doing construction because you simply cannot do construction without obtaining proper licenses and permission which could be extremely hectic task.

The standard of living you get while living in these sky scrapper is itself next level experience because you can find almost every facility in these apartments. From gym to swimming pool, parks specially designed for childrens where they can play with proper security and enjoy their childhood.

Overall, keeping other factors in account if you are planning to move to metropolitan city always choose tall apartment blocks for more mental peace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to house people in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including the high cost of buying land and building a house, the difficulty of obtaining permissions, and the facilities available in apartment complexes. These points address the question, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that apartments reduce pressure on cities would be stronger with a clear explanation of how higher-density housing accommodates more residents on limited land. The opening discussion of changing preferences over time is only loosely connected to the argument. Develop each main reason with a specific example or consequence, and briefly acknowledge a limitation or alternative to make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an identifiable structure, moving from an introduction to reasons and a concluding recommendation, and phrases such as “One of main reason” and “Overall” signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first two paragraphs repeat the idea that metropolitan cities are home to millions, while the shift from population growth to construction policy is abrupt. Some linking phrases are awkward or do not clarify the relationship between ideas, as in “Because in from the current trends.” Paragraphing also separates closely related points, such as the cost of housing and the licensing process. Group related reasons into focused paragraphs, use clear topic sentences, and make references such as “these places” and “these apartments” precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “densely populated,” “integrated,” “financial resources,” and “standard of living.” This gives the response some range, but inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing less natural. Examples include “poulated,” “sky scrapper,” “accomodate,” and “comparsion”; “extensive stress” is also an unnatural collocation in this context. Repetition of “metropolitan cities,” “tall apartment blocks,” and “millions of residents” limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “pressure on housing,” “high-rise apartment buildings,” and “affordable accommodation.” Proofread spelling and check whether each chosen word fits the intended meaning and collocates naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including a clause beginning “Because…” and a sentence explaining the facilities available in apartment blocks. However, control is uneven, and several sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. For example, “A metropolitan city is … and its surrounding suburbs … function as integrated whole” has a subject–verb and article problem, while “Idea to which I completely agree” is not a complete sentence. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, such as “people generally prefer” in a past-time context and “cities become home.” Improve sentence boundaries, check subject–verb agreement and tense consistency, and practise building complex sentences around a clear main clause. These changes will make your ideas easier to follow.
