Student answer (Band 6.0)
Constructing high rise buildings and apartment blocks rather than houses in big cities is considered as the best approach thesedays. This essay partially agrees and disagree with this statement.Having large buildings instead of homes may lead to dozen of families in a single building but many problems can arise such as parking space issue, lack of privacy and overpopulation in a certain area.
The bulding of high rise appartments would contribute in people having a cheaper accomodation and the landlords may earn a passive income by renting the remaining apartments in their building. Furthermore,it would also lead to adjust a dozen of families in the single building rather then building dozen of seperate homes. This would also save land for urban areas as in many cities agricultural land is converted into residential areas due to the massive increase in population. A recent survey near NED university karachi states that 55% of the residents have coverted their homes into highrise buildings and are earing a hansome amount by renting them to students. This approach has saved students time and traveling cost which is a very positive approach.
While on the other hand this approach has some drawbacks as well. The major problem is traffic conjustion due to the over population in that particular area, noise pollution is also a crucial factor if not controlled may lead to serious problems.Another reason is the parking space dispute between the residents.
In conclusion, constructing tall building in large cities to provide enough homes is a positive approach as it benefits the society but has some cons as well but if managed by proper rules the benefits would surelu outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question with a qualified position: you see tall apartment buildings as beneficial overall, while acknowledging drawbacks. Relevant support includes the potential to accommodate more families on less land, provide cheaper accommodation, and the example of homes converted into high-rise buildings near NED University. You also identify traffic, noise and parking concerns. However, the extent of your agreement is not fully consistent: the introduction says you “partially agrees and disagree,” while the conclusion says the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. Some points, especially the claims about affordability and landlords’ income, are asserted rather than explained, and the example could be linked more clearly to the question of providing enough homes. State your position precisely and develop fewer points in greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow. The contrast between benefits and drawbacks is also clear. However, some connections are mechanical or awkward, particularly “While on the other hand,” and the opening paragraph combines several ideas without clearly separating the position from the supporting points. The advantages paragraph moves from cheaper accommodation to landlords’ income, land use and students’ travel costs, so the relationship between these points is not always explicit. Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main idea, and make references such as “this approach” more precise so readers can readily identify the point being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “high rise buildings,” “agricultural land,” “noise pollution” and “traffic congestion.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some more specific expressions such as “passive income.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural collocations are noticeable, including “thesedays,” “dozen of families,” “parking space dispute” and “a positive approach.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “approach” and “building.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the number of households a building can accommodate rather than using “a dozen” loosely. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish housing supply, affordability and the effects of density.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction in “if not controlled may lead to serious problems” and a relative clause in “which is a very positive approach.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “This essay partially agrees and disagree” has faulty agreement and an unclear subject, while “the landlords may earn” shifts awkwardly from the general claim. Articles and number are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in the single building” and “constructing tall building.” Punctuation is sometimes missing after sentence openings and between clauses, which makes several sentences harder to process. Practise consistent subject–verb agreement, article use and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
