Student answer (Band 5.0)

The efficient step which can be taken to facilitate by making more homes in big cities are tall apartments. This statement is completly true.I am going to explain this in the following paragraphs.

There is a problem mostly in cities that there are not enough shelters to live in which is an alarming situation. There are manys ways to tackle this problem but making vertical buildings cities can be the most accurate step to overcome this issue.Because vertical buildings occupy less space than the horizontal ones.which is also helpful in arranging substantial amount of peoples in single building. As it needs less space therefore it allows us to make more buildings in a space. For example in my city there are some heighted buildings which covers more population as to compare to the horizontal buildings and in recent days our chairman of the arichetectural department has decided to transform the single story buildings into the tall heighted building.

Some people may argue that building a building in the vertical shape is not a solution in providing maximum homes in the cities.because in thier point of view building proper homes in line is a permanent solution

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You clearly state your position—“This statement is completely true”—and give a relevant reason: tall buildings use less land while accommodating more residents. The example about converting single-storey buildings also relates to the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the supporting points are brief, and the final paragraph introduces an opposing view but ends before explaining or answering it. The claim that building homes “in line” is a permanent solution is not developed, so your argument is incomplete. The response is also 58 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain your reasons and provide relevant examples. Develop each main point and finish with a clear conclusion that restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting tall buildings, and the beginning of a paragraph presenting an opposing view. The ideas are generally related to the question, and linking expressions such as “For example” and “therefore” show an attempt to connect reasons and evidence. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph contains several ideas in a long, crowded sequence, while the final paragraph stops without completing its point. Some connections are awkward or unclear, such as “Because vertical buildings occupy less space…” being separated from the preceding sentence. Use clearer paragraph development, connect each reason directly to its explanation, and complete the counterargument and conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “vertical buildings,” “horizontal,” “population,” and “permanent solution,” which helps communicate the main subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “alarming situation” and “substantial amount.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less natural: “facilitate by making more homes,” “heighted buildings,” and “covers more population.” Spelling errors such as “completly,” “thier,” and “arichetectural” are noticeable. Aim for precise, conventional expressions and check spelling; for example, use “provide more housing,” “high-rise buildings,” and “accommodate more residents.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “Because vertical buildings occupy less space” and a comparison with “than.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. For example, “The efficient step … are tall apartments” has subject–verb disagreement, while “There are manys ways” has an incorrect plural form. The fragment “which is also helpful…” and the sentence beginning “Because” are not properly connected to complete clauses. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops. Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
