Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear in the opening: “I totally agree,” and the conclusion restates support for apartment blocks. You also give relevant reasons, including affordability for people with limited means and accommodation for students moving to cities. However, the response addresses the question only partially because these points are asserted rather than explained in depth. For example, the claim that blocks provide a “comfortable environment” is not supported with details, and the examples do not show why tall buildings are the best way to increase housing supply compared with alternatives. Develop fewer points more fully, explaining how building upwards uses limited urban land and giving a specific, relevant example. The required length is met; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Paragraphs also group related points, such as affordability and housing for students. However, there is no clear overall progression in the argument: the second body paragraph begins “On the other hand,” but continues to support the same position rather than presenting a contrast. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Additionally” are repeated, sometimes without showing a precise relationship between ideas. Some sentences also join several points together, making the development difficult to follow. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main reason, and connect each example directly to that reason with clearer referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “job opportunities,” “household expenses,” and “education,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “significant reason.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “basic necessary,” “realty helpful,” “provide them residents,” and “apartment block can also strong.” Repetition of “better lives,” “reliable,” and “cities” further limits precision. Choose vocabulary that expresses the housing argument directly, such as “affordable accommodation,” “high-density housing,” and “make efficient use of urban land.” Check word forms and collocations so that the intended meaning is clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses introduced by “because,” “who,” and “so.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “apartment blocks is,” “some people believes,” “Numerous people are prefer,” and “they lives,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “because” begins a sentence after a full stop in the final body paragraph, and the opening sentence runs several ideas together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences from one main clause plus a correctly formed supporting clause.
