Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are rumors that if you want to build more homes then you have to increase the height of the building such as apartmet blocks. There are differet kinds of people and have diferent opinion. In this essay, I will give my opinion and give reasons to support my stance.
In every country there are millions of people and every person has different taste buds. Most of the people wants to live in a tall appartment building. While on the other hand, there are many people who prefer to spend their life in small house. The people who wants to live in appartment blocks had to face many problems and also they have many facilities.I agree with the given statement that we should have to build tall buildings to provide homes to all the people. At first, I think it is expensive to build small house for one person in city. It is costly. Infact, if we build appartment we save a lot of money and land. The second thing, if anyone have problem and emeregency he just call the reception and his problem will be resolved. But if he is living in a home he did not have anyone to help. The traffic problem is also solved because, most of the people share their ride towards their ofiice and they do not use more vehicle.
In conclusion, I think it is better to build tall appartment blocks to provide home to all of society. It solves many problems and also provides many facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are a good way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including saving land and money, access to reception support, and potentially reducing traffic through shared rides. These points show an attempt to answer the question, but the response addresses it only partially because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The opening also introduces differing housing preferences without connecting them clearly to whether high-rise construction is the best solution. To strengthen the response, explain how apartment blocks accommodate more households on limited urban land, and consider a limitation or alternative so that your extent of agreement is fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, a main discussion and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally understandable in sequence. You also use basic signposting such as “At first,” “The second thing,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within the main paragraph is weak: preferences for houses and apartments, building costs, emergency support and traffic are placed together without clear links or separate development. Some transitions are mechanical, and “While on the other hand” is redundant. The conclusion repeats the central claim but does not draw together the reasons. Organise each main reason in its own paragraph, use linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas, and make references such as “they” or “it” clearly point to the intended subject.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate your main position and several relevant ideas, including “facilities,” “traffic problem,” and “provide homes.” However, the range is limited and some wording is repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated forms of “build,” “people,” and “problem.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “apartmet,” “differet,” “emeregency,” and “ofiice,” which reduce accuracy. Some phrases are unnatural for this topic, including “different taste buds” for differing preferences and “share their ride towards their office.” Aim for more precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check spelling carefully. Using accurate collocations will make your argument clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if we build appartment we save a lot of money and land,” and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “Most of the people wants” should use a plural verb, while “if anyone have problem” needs agreement and an article. The sentence beginning “The people who wants…” also has agreement errors and an unclear shift into “had to face.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, as in “facilities.I agree.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete sentence boundaries, then build longer sentences around one clearly expressed relationship.
